The entire meal as a whole was alright. I wanted the “L.A way" burger with a brioche bun instead of a wheat bun, and cheddar cheese instead of jack cheese, but apparently, they can’t do that? I don’t think I’ve ever been to a place in my life where I couldn’t change the building of the burger, LET ALONE THE NAME OF THE FREAKING RESTAURANT! I know your business is like a hole-in-a-wall restaurant, but $60 for 3 burgers, 3 fries, and 3 drinks is too overpriced for me. On top of that, the tater-tots I ordered were mistaken for regular fries, and they managed to mess up two burgers that were just “meat and cheese”, which instead they decided to put everything on them. I also found a piece of chicken tenders in my fries lol. I could tell the soda machines were running low on syrup, based on my soft-drink tasting like carbonated water, which isn’t entirely disgusting; it’s just not what I ordered. The lady at the register wasn’t inherently disrespectful but was very hard to hear under the mask, with a thick accent, and a lot of noise behind both of us (not that she could’ve controlled that). The only thing they miraculously got right was not putting any sauce or mayonnaise in my burger, which was for allergy reasons. 4/10, or 2/5 stars for me. I’d highly recommend places like El Charro Café, or Wendy’s if we’re talking about...
Read moreAs a chef myself, I walked into this place during the afternoon expecting a quick meal—but what I witnessed made me sick to my stomach.
This restaurant operates more like a fast food joint. The patties were clearly pre-cooked and slapped together in about 5 minutes. But the speed wasn’t the real issue—it was the utter disregard for basic food safety and hygiene.
While I was eating, I watched one of the staff members chattering away, touching her hair and face, grabbing her phone, and even drinking water—all while wearing the same pair of gloves. No glove changes. No handwashing. Just back to handling food like nothing happened. Not only is that unsanitary, it’s unacceptable.
None of the employees looked happy to be there either. It felt like they were just going through the motions without any pride in what they were doing. If I were Chef Ramsay, believe me, it would’ve turned into a full-blown nightmare kitchen scene.
This place needs serious training, better standards, and a reality check. Until then, I won’t be back—and I’d strongly recommend others...
Read more02 May 2022 at 1200 hrs: The most rude female cashier I have ever seen. I was yelled at because the fountain drinks tasted like it was filled with a chemical and I brought back the drinks. She rudely and very loudly yelled at me and rudely asked me in an aggressive tone what I wanted now. Numerous people brought back drinks. And it all started because I paid in cash and she had no change. If you don't want to take cash, don't take cash from a customer and treat customers like they are a burden. And no one even apologized! not even a supervisor. If the rude service is the norm for Built Custom Burgers in the Tuscon International Airport then I, nor anyone associated with any of my bussinesses will ever buy another item from Built Custom...
