The owner is INCREDIBLY inconsiderate. Don't ask for substitutions. I called this restaurant to place a pickup order. It was a rough day. I was VERY tired and hungry. And it's difficult to decide on an empty stomach. And when I dine out, I have to requests substitutions or modifications because I have food allergies. So I called twice and I couldn't decide so I agreed to call the restaurant back once I had a concrete idea of what I wanted. When I called the third time, the owner answered. They proceeded to tell me, rather abrasively, that 'what they have on the menu is what they have on the menu' and 'how they make the food is how they make the food'. I said that I understood and--since I had somewhat made up my mind-proceeded to repeat the specific modification I was asking for. I also stated that it was okay if the substitution could not be made and if that was the case I would try to look for/order something else on the menu. (I was asking if I could substitute the alfredo sauce in the Portobello ravioli dish for marinara instead) However, the owner continuously cut me off, interrupted me and talked over me while I was talking. And rather than just telling me that they couldn't modify the dish or make the substitution that I was requesting, they proceed to try to tell me what I want to order. They kept telling me I "want" fettucine noodles with marinara sauce. Even though I said repeatedly, in plain English, that I wanted the Portobello ravioli and I did not want any fettucine for my order. Then they stated that they would not serve me ravioli and that the fettucine was 'what I was getting' because if I ordered then they would not give me the ravioli dish at all and would try to give me something entirely different than what I asked for. Then they tried to hang up on me. This was incredibly aggressive/abrasive, disrespectful and RUDE. And from the owner no less. I feel very frustrated, angry and altogether repulsed/disgusted. If this how an owner chooses to communicate, or rather not communicate, with a potential customer this business can count on NOT EVER seeing a cent from me. And I guess they don't need the revenue because that is unacceptable to even think it is okay to treat anyone that way, patron or no. Like I said, I was/still am absolutely disgusted. Didn't end up ordering any food. And I was still very hungry. Don't want to and certainly will not be...
Read moreAs soon as we entered we were greeted very nice and friendly. We sat down and ordered sandwiches three of us. We had a chicken pesto sandwich. The chicken tasted Frozen and rethought out . Did not taste good at all. The second sandwich was Italian roast beef which was not at all. It was sliced roast beef you get from a deli poor quality. The chips were stale and tasted horrible. The french fries we're not fresh and old. And the third sandwich was a chicken parmesan. Which it was basically a chicken tender not a cutlet with a very cheap generic tomato sauce on it. Not tasty whatsoever unfavorable. we ordered two waters and Ice-T. We Paid close to $70. Way overpriced bar food. That was not adequate for a restaurant that says it's Italian bistro. Overall very disappointed. They got me once they won't get me twice honestly I will never go back. And I would not recommend it to my experience because if you're paying that kind of money for good Italian food you should get that kind of money is worth of food. If you want some killer Italian food right across the road at amore's. You can never go wrong and it's close to the same price for literally upscale Italian food and Pizza Wood fired. The staff which was one lady very nice. But I can't justify going back. If I want that quality food I will go to Subway.. ps. I forgot to say I will give them the bread on the sandwiches was outstanding . The bread definitely was amazing. If I ever went back for bread that's...
Read moreI gave this restaurant a 3 star. It was a take out order due to COVID and it was Mother's Day and they were doing their best. Way overpriced for the food they serve. All we ordered tasted "decent" but take out always translates badly.
Ordered garlic knots. These were flat in taste, and crunchy like a pita chip with mozzarella cheese on top.I understand It is their take on garlic knots. But they were overcooked. Also real garlic knots are fluffy pizza dough knots rolled in butter and garlic, sprinkled with parm. Then ordered Eggplant Parm, Portobello Ravioli, Canoli and Molten cake. All were okay. It did not taste bad, but had better at Viro's Bakery & Deli. Ravioli did not have much inside and was doughy. The eggplant parm was just 2 pieces of eggplant and cheese on top. Husband said it was okay via taste, but not worth $17 for just 2 pieces of eggplant. Deserts, well please don't drizzle chocolate all over a Canoli, it ruins the whole taste of filling and the shell. I am always seeking Italian restaurants in Tucson. But usually cook it at home. Being a true NYC Sicilian and cooking my own Italian food (taught to me by my mom) it is hard to be a judge. I may try this place again to give them one...
