The first time I came to this restaurant, the food exceeded my expectation. It tasted high quality, fresh, and the service was quick and friendly. Best of all the prices were extremely reasonable. I returned with a friend after raving to them about the quality of the food, but sadly I was embarrassed by the quality to say the least. To start, the restaurant was packed and social distancing was minimal, which can be forgivable as more and more people are being vaccinated. We ordered 5 rolls and 3 Nigiri, a few classic favorites like the spicy California and a few adventurous pieces such as squid Nigiri and scallop nigiri. The food took around 20-30 minutes to arrive, which is understandable due to the large amount of business. What was not understandable was the lack of quality in the sushi. The squid nigiri and red snapper nigiri were delicious and fresh. The rest of the rolls excluding the futomati roll were bland and flavorless. The spicy California roll was especially below expectation, tasting like it had come straight out of a gas station. I dont like to complain, but me and my friend felt that we should leave some feedback. I explained to our server the issue we had with the food and he was very understanding and apologetic. Had this been the end of our interaction with staff I probably wouldn't have posted this. We were asked to pass on the feedback to the owner when we checked out. The owner was not at all interested in what we had to say, brushing off our complaints saying we should have used Sriracha or other excuses. I explained that I had no issue paying, but that I felt the quality was lacking and I wanted to come back and not have the same experience. The owner simply didn't care about what we had to say. With around 40 dollars spent on gas station quality sushi, my final verdict is that you would be better buying the 5 dollar Snowfox sushi rolls from frys grocery store than eating here at this restaurant in its...
Read moreThis has been my second time here. My boyfriend took me here for our 3 months anniversary as I am an avid Sushi lover and enjoy most fish food. Upon showing up we were greeted quickly and seated. Our waitress was very nice and quick to get drinks to us and a salad and some miso. The place was decently packed.
We sat for a very good while waiting on our food however I did not mind that because sitting there meant we could talk and stuff.
The plates they leave on the table with the sauce dish appeared feshly washed as they were still wet. My boyfriend picked them up to dry the wetness with the spare napkins when he noticed one of the small plates had some sort of food stuck to it and it looked slimy.
We brought it to the attention of someone who stopped by our table that was not our waitress who quickly took the plate from us and responded with "Yes yes"
Soon after the ordeal with the plate our food was brought out to us. It looked good, some of it looked like it had sat out too long but that was a thought I had become there was some discoloration in some of the pieces.
We ate at our meal and it was decent. Down to the last 4 pieces something I ate tasted rotten and made me feel like puking. He tasted it as well in the same roll we were trying to finish off.
I'm sure they are better during certain times of the day however I can not give a full star rating because even at my second visit to this venue it still was not satisfactory.
I will not be returning...
Read moreWe came on a Thursday evening not knowing it was half price sushi. It was an unexpected bonus! As we are seated we are immediately handed miso. Ok. Cool, odd we don't have a drink order in but prompt service was a great start. We ordered 3 green tea, tempura appetizer ($7), 3 bowls of rice($2 each), 4 pieces each of salmon and tuna sushi ($2.25 x 4), 8 mackerel sushi ($?) and a Vegas roll ($10?). We got our tea and water then immediately get our rice.... and sit with it. For some time. Then we are served our large platter of sushi. The Vegas roll was cool to the touch and tasted quite off and not very fresh. And the sushi was less than chilled. I'll mention the roll and sushi were on the same platter too. I've never ever had a cold Vegas roll and was so put off by the flavor. And you shouldn't be served a cooked roll on a platter with raw sushi. We then waited for over 15 minutes after that for the appetizer. It had 2 shrimp and some assorted vegetables that were not even cooked. The carrot, sweet potato, green bean and broccoli were all under cooked. I was so dissatisfied and unhappy with the entire meal. Our server was very busy, when he offered to get us more tea all 3 of us said yes and he did not have a tray (or a tea pot in his hand!) so he carried 2 of our cups by had and didn't grab the 3rd. We wanted a decadent meal that left us in a food coma of satisfaction and we ended up with a sour mood that...
