This lil spot is located right Accross the street from my sons place here in Tucson AZ. So as we are here doing some last second planning for his deployment he's telling me a story about this lil kid that comes in to his barber shop with an ENTOURAGE of friends with him, and who turns out to be the son of a couple who own the lil Vietnamese place Accross the street! Well I HAFTA try them!! Haha! Upon entering, its pretty busy for a Sunday (and btw THANK YOU for being open on a Sunday!!!) early afternoon. The decor is cute w it's landscape murals in the walls and plants everywhere; nice floor to ceiling windows along one side that were just calling our names on this beautiful day! First star - The lil lady who served us was on POINT. I didn't catch her name but apparently she doesn't normally work at this location; I later found out that they have two locations (???) I'm sure glad she was there this day tho as she made our day - with her light hearted banter and just Happy demeanor. She made the experience that much MORE Second star - they have Three of my Fave Asian cuisines all in one place - Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese. Add Japanese and they would have All my bases covered! Third Star - they serve Bahn Mi!!! My all time Fave sandwich (which I WILL return another day to partake!) Fourth star - they KNOW HOW TO FRY WHOLE FISH. OMG ya'll cannot KNOW how many places I've been to that don't know how to Hard fry a whole fish!! And they do us one better and Chunk the filets on either side of the fish and deep fry THOSE to a golden crisp along with the rest of the body so that the ENTIRE FISH is crispy like chips!! My son and I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this experience!! Oh!!! And the prik nam pla..... She made us some FRESH and it was PERFECT W THE FISH Fifth star - BOBA!!! They have BOBA!!! Now I can't normally drink boba due to the milk in it but here they make it with Non Dairy milk!!! YES!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the green apple or the strawberry. SO YUMMY!!! Try these guys out ya'll!! I will Def be visiting them again before I leave for their Bahn mi and Pho!! Now if they have Chinese Gai lan (broccoli) I may never leave!!...
Read moreI can't tell you what the food was like or any of the drinks (the boba tea list was impressive). My husband and I live near-by and decided to meet for lunch during my break. We walked in, were immediately greeted and sat. So far, so good. We looked over the menu and it looked similar to other pho places so we were quite excited.
Then we waited. Any attempts to get attention were ignored. We came in on a Tuesday during what would normally be a lunch rush and there were only three tables taken - which probably should have been our clue. But we love pho and our favorite place was too far away to visit during my lunch break.
Two more tables were sat after we walked in. These tables immediately got their drink orders taken and were served appetizers. One of these tables was so close that the lady taking the order bumped my chair several times walking around the table to deliver drinks. Again, my husband and I were ignored.
After twenty minutes, we got up and walked out. THEN someone noticed - one of the ladies thanked us for coming, which felt like it added insult to injury.
Honestly, having worked many years in food service, my husband and I are both fairly forgiving and patient with food service staff. But this was very insulting. Its not as if we are dirty or shifty looking - I am a teacher and my husband works in insurance so both of us were dressed professionally. I have no idea why they completely ignored us but we are not going to go back to find out.
We will make the trip to Miss Saigon's, on Oracle and Campbell which is always busy - for a good reason! I am just really disappointed that a pho place so close to our home and jobs...
Read moreI ordered two thai curry tofu dishes. I specifically asked what was in the curry…they said bell pepper, bamboo, and tofu. I asked to add carrots & broccoli. I figured there’d be an extra charge of 2-3 dollars for each of the dishes. I also ordered a boba. The curry is priced 14.99 & boba 5.99. With veggies added, I figured order would be near $45. When my boyfriend picked it up they told him the total was $55. There was no receipt & when he asked for one they didn’t have it itemized. When he asked for a break down they said they charged $13 for broccoli & carrots. Unbelievable. The total still didn’t add up. When we took it home, the curry had eggplant & little frozen peas & carrots added, even though I specifically asked & they didn’t say eggplant or peas. You’d think for the amount they charge they’d use only fresh produce. Both dishes were very faint in color & lackluster. l couldn’t taste any Thai flavor or spice. Just tasted like watered down coconut milk. The tofu was measly. The chili oil was bad. I’ve had a lot of Thai food &I eat it on a regular basis. This definitely goes on the list of places I won’t revisit. I still ate it because I wasn’t wasting 55 dollars worth of food. I don’t mind paying for quality authentic food, but this was...
