Let me start by saying I've worked in the food service industry for several years. So, as a customer, I'm kind, understanding and patient if things don't go 100% right. We're only human right? The day I had ordered I saw 3 employees working there and a manager named Jeff. Jeff clearly needs additional training in managing a team (happy to assist if you need me). They were unbelievably unorganized. They lacked any sense of purpose or urgency - moving so slow but, they were openly expressing their stress at the same time and they lacked basic customer service skills. The food was decent - although the order was wrong, I waited 45 minutes for an order placed 30 minutes before I arrived and a few other minor mistakes were made. Because of how bad my experience was, I thought, at the very least, they would offer a free dessert or a discount on my next purchase. Even a simple apology would've made a difference. Since I wasn't offered anything even though it was blatantly clear that the service was horrible, I decided I would let the manager know my concerns in a kind way because I know what it's like - we all have bad days but, I really did have a bad experience there. What really made my visit memorable though was when a fellow customer who had asked a question, not knowing if some bagged orders were his or if he was being called up for his order. Jeff, the manager, raises his voice (the whole lobby can hear him) and aggressively says "I'M NOT TALKING TO YOU!" Obviously, the customer is confused by the unnecessary conflict and says something along the lines of "I thought you were looking at me". Jeff says again in an overly aggressive tone "I WASN'T LOOKING AT YOU. I WAS LOOKING AT A RECEIPT." So, my plan of having a respectable conversation with the manager about my experience at his restuarant quickly went out the window after I witnessed his obnoxious unprofessionalism. Needless to say, I am never returning and am happy to talk about my experience in further detail if you would like...
Read moreSo far I've had a limited selection of BBQ here. But what I had the Texas tips and brisket was very good. The service is outstanding and very friendly. I appreciated how the staff seemed to really enjoy their work. The tips had a fantastic rub that made me abandon using any sauces which were pretty good too. And there were a lot. I regretted getting the two meat plate half way through. The meat was slightly dry/chewy at the edges and tender toward the middle. Many pieces didn't even have the small bones. The tips were slightly greasy. But while I've had excellent leaner BBQ meat, I'm not sure you should expect some degree of grease with these foods. Still ate it happily. The brisket came with a big slice of garlic butter Texas toast melted through. I think with the very excellent sweet corn bread muffin, it was a little too much bread. But I ate it nonetheless. No one made me. The brisket was tender but not fork tender and maybe a little dry. Not enough for me to take a star off. I had the garlic mashed potatoes which were at least two scoops of portion, very generous and delicious. They were creamy while substantive and with some peel which I like. The coleslaw was average. It's labeled as "creamy coleslaw" but I don't believe it fits in the "creamy category. It was a little more on the horseradish side like most coleslaw which I don't like. Overall I remember the previous Famous Dave's and I don't remember it being this good. I know what I had was a small sample but it was enough to make me want to go back and maybe bring my family if they're in a BBQ mood. It was a pleasant surprise. I still rate Holy Smokin Butts as the best, Brushfire next, and feel Dave's is running as third best choice maybe higher in the future with...
Read moreWent in with my daughter and a friend. I had the brisket tacos, my daughter had a burger and my friend had the ribs. The tacos say the coleslaw is on the side. It is but also was the majority filing for the tacos with each only having three small pieces of brisket. The burger was good according to my daughter and the ribs well I tried them and they were pretty dry and not worth killing a pig for. When waitress returned to ask how it was. I was on my last bite. I told her the tacos were great too bad there wasn't much brisket but no big deal they were good. She quickly walked away without hearing from anyone else at the table. She returned several minutes later with a plate of brisket and loudly sets here since you feel cheated. I was shocked! That's not wat I was saying and I certainly didn't want anything. My friend told her about the ribs and she ran off for the managers. We said look she asked how it was we told her. We don't want anything except the check so we can pay and leave. She asked for his email so they could envite him back. We kindly declined asked for the check . Finally we asked the waitress to break up the change. She brings back two singles and a twenty. Well sorry. You get two doller tip. Anyway that extra brisket by the way was not the same as on the...
