Filiberto's Mexican Food — Restaurant in Tucson

AGGRESSIVELY OVERPRICED

Upon entry l was made to feel unwelcomed almost immediately upon entry. Apparently providing any sense of warm genuine customer service isn't an option here. Being unfamiliar with the menu l needed a minute to review it, this failure to have the menu committed to memory prior to my arrival apparently angered the antisocial staff to unmeasurable depths. The cashier lady made it very clear that customer relations isn't her strong suit. While not filthy the floor was in obvious need of attention, additionally numerous spots of the floor were noticeably sticky from unaddressed prior soda spill incidents. Lag time from ordering to presentation was minimal at best. I found my food to be hot, fresh and unimpressive, suffering from aggressive portion control and simply lacking in any breakthrough flavor. I felt instatutionally cheated at +$20 for lunch featuring mediocre under flavored food, rude condescending and arrogant staff in a unhygienic subpar environment that clearly needed a good clean. I wasn't expecting perfection, but for a $20 lunch l expected their best effort and apparently even that's not currently available on the menu. I found $15.35 for the entree, another $3.15 for a fountain drink to tax out at +/-$20 a clear example of unchecked and unabashed GREED-FLATION. The missing food flavor, diminished portions and lacking quality just simply doesn't support the excessively high prices charged at this establishment. Instead of being happy to have a job, these folks are clearly on a war footing with hungry customers, punishing you for your bad decisions over picking where to eat. Not an establishment than I'm gonna be revisiting or recommending.

So, this is a tough one. Food is great, salsa bar decent, staff decent. Sounds like a solid 4 star, right? The trouble in paradise is what happened when I was dining at a table. Now, I always eat Mexican food at the restaurant because, in my opinion, Mexican food doesn’t travel well. So, I’m sitting there eating, and on one of the 2 tvs, was a football match starting. While they always play the tv too loud, most likely so the staff can watch and hear it in the kitchen, I’m okay with it because it’s sports and enjoyable to watch. Suddenly, out of the kitchen comes an employee with a remote control, and turns on a far right “news” channel. Now, lefty’s don’t want to hear righty’s making fun of politicians, and righty’s don’t want to hear lefty’s either. And therefore lies the problem. With political opinion tv on, the owners of Filiberto’s are aligning themselves with the far right and their views. (Full disclosure, I would be writing this exact same review had the channel been turned on a lefty opinion channel). Obviously, it’s filibFiliberto’s right to align with any political party they want to, but it’s just bad business. You’re going to alienate many people. I think that most public establishments, for the sake of running a profitable business, would want to attract everyone that has...

Deplorable customer service by rude, disrespectful staff. On our last visit to this restaurant we received the worst customer service from the guy taking orders in the drive-thru. After ordering item after item the guy would not confirm our order, so we would ask him if he'd heard us, he would take a while and then finally reply in the rudest manner, not making any effort whatsoever to hide his annoyance. After I asked one question about one of their dishes we could not understand what he said through the speaker, so we asked him a second time and he replied in a very disrespectful way, in an obviously annoyed, slow manner in a tone as if we were stupid. When we came to the window and got our stuff we asked if there was a problem with their speaker and if he was not able to hear us when we were placing our order, he replied that he heard perfectly but that he did not need to repeat our order. We were staggered by his shameless lack of interest for providing good customer service and simple lack of politeness. Of course we will not be going back, customer beware of the kind of service you will receive...
