Jason's Deli — Restaurant in Tucson

My partner and I ate here yesterday for the first time and overall it was a disappointing experience. We saw all the positive Google reviews and considering it's just down the road from my apartment, we decided to give it a try.

I ordered a vegetarian sandwich with zucchini while my partner ordered the Carmela sandwich along with a side salad from their salad bar. Although the employees were friendly, the service was pretty quick, and our orders appeared appetizing, most of the food unfortunately lacked flavor and was pretty bland. My sandwich was soggy and didn't have really any distinct flavor. The Lay's jalapeno potato chips I had with it had more taste! The salad wasn't anything special, the olives and artichokes from the salad bar tasted like dish water, and my partner and I both agreed that his sandwich tasted overwhelmingly salty. You couldn't get any real distinct flavors from the different meats in the sandwich either. The amount of saltiness in his sandwich also left him feeling poorly for hours afterward.

A little side note...he and I also noticed that despite them having several employees working at the time and business being pretty slow (there were only maybe 2-3 small parties including us dining there), a few tables had not been cleared off and cleaned for most of the time we were there and one of those tables had dirty dishes sitting on it since we arrived. I essentially wasted over $9 on a sandwich I could make 10x better at home for a lot less and my partner wasted around $15. We will not be returning and definitely do not recommend. Jason's Deli used to be a favorite of ours. Now it's just BAD. Keeps getting worse too. Today was pretty much the last straw. Ordered two California Clubs and they ran out of the bread they normally use and gave us the french roll bread. There was LITERALLy MAYBE 1 tablespoon of meat in each sandwich. Barely any mayo. 1 slice of bacon on each sandwich. All lettuce and bread more than anything. When we try to let the managers know at both locations they get pissy and cop an attitude. lol We used to order pbnj's for the kids, but the kids HATE it now too. Everything used to be so fresh and soft. Now it's just rough, old, frozen, and barely anything good. They're super stingy with the portions now. Plus... they take FOREVER making sandwiches. I have no idea why! It's all frozen/cold. It's more than likely pre made already nowadays. Oh.. it makes sense now. They probably have to wait for it to thaw out a bit before selling it. JK but on another note... THERE IS SOOOOOO MUCH TRASH ONE SIMPLE TAKE OUT ORDER CREATES!!!! Jason's Deli has wonderful sandwiches and salads but today I ordered a cup of chili. And it was a huge disappointment it was just a cup of red sauce I guess? the meat was pureed? there were no beans or anything in it. it was a huge disappointment. And I love their other food. but they should seriously consider toss this and create some actual real chili! now they have chicken chili that doesn't sound appealing to me, so I can't say how that is? but they're all meat chili it's, it's bad Unfortunately. they need to scrap it and create a good beef chili. I tried to like that chili.but no,unfortunately. We're keeping in mind, this is my opinion.but that's all I can say. I love their sandwiches.I love their salads. some of the best sandwiches in town. Hmmmm here's an idea! Have some kind of mini chili cook-off or something? Maybe customers could submit a few different recipes , you guys could create the different recipes, and then invite customers in on the mini chili cook-off taste test day and the winning chili could be the chili of the month?
