Personally, I don't think tacos are supposed to be fish, but if you like fish tacos, this place is pretty good. It used to be awesome, but things have changed. The last time I was here, I ordered the Shrimp Taco Trio and it used to be absolutely fabulous. However, this time, it was mediocre, at best. I don't know why things have changed, but it's not as good as it used to be. There are also some dishes that have meat in them, and salads, too. On Tuesdays, they have Taco Tuesday and you can get their tacos at a discount. The special fish tacos on Tuesday are breaded but they also have a 3 Taco plate that is also on sale that has broiled fish instead. Very filling, and okay ingredients. The ambiance is kind of a fast food place. You order at the counter and then they bring your order to the table. The people that work there are wonderful and are very anxious to please. They also serve beer which goes well, of course, with tacos. It's very clean but a little...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time at Rubio's. We were excited after looking at their menu online. Wow, really stingy on the protein here. I expected only 8 shrimp because they're expensive, but chicken or beef? Got maybe 1/3 of a small chicken breast, then was left with a huge bowl of rice to eat. "Regular" order of tortilla chips ($1.59) was a small untied sandwich bag?! and most were broken, which made the salsa a chore. I guess we should have ordered the "full" order of tortilla chips to get unbroken ones? Two of their 4 salsas were boring - tomotilla & mild. Salsa bar was closed. Maybe I'm used to Chipotle where they give you your money's worth in protein to finish with your meal. We'll give Rubio's one more try and order some different items, but not holding my breath. Have a feeling we'll end up eating another bowl of rice with tortilla...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe bought the fish tacos with pinto beans and chips meal for $10.99 plus drinks extra charge. It was a HORRIBLE meal!!!Everything was microscopic small portions! I could eat the tacos in one bite with hardly ANY FISH ,mostly shredded cabbage! The pinto beans you could fit in a thimble and tiny bits of chips the size of my thumbnail! Plus a tablespoon of sour cream white sauce. This was the most PATHETIC excuse for a meal my wife and I had in all our 50 years of eating out in our marriage! We eat out quite a lot, all over Tucson and Rubios was honestly the WORST rip off for the money EVER! We will warn everyone don't throw your money away for a really lousy restaurant meal Taco BELL gives a FEAST of pretty good quality and portion size food - at fair prices...
