Love shopping at Sam's club, though I wish this store was bigger & that they had an Eastside location I'm hopeful they will get one soon as I live an hour and a half east of Tucson. I love that I have the ship to home option and I find a lot of products here I don't find at Costco. My mom has a membership there under my sister in law. I have serious mobility issues, so it's easier for me to order for pickup, or ship to home, when I do come to the store, staff is absolutely wonderful in helping, I'm often too embarrassed to ask, so I'll use the scooter available because I only last 5 minutes on a walker, I'm completely bed ridden in winter unless I go to acupuncture weekly and have access to aquatic therapy at least 3x a week if not daily. I'd live in the water if I could 3-5 hours a day. That's what I did in Scottsdale & Phx when I lived there. Wish I didn't sell my home in North Scottsdale, but after a bad tenant, fixing all the damage and getting the pool, landscape, and home repairs done, plus my mortgage where I was living in the mountains, I had no choice. Anyway, Sam's still gives you great prices, and you don't have to buy in as big a quantity as other clubs. Now that my children are grown it's nice to have that choice. I can buy as little or as much as I want of an item. Stock the freezer, pantry, or not. Especially, since I raise my own lamb, ducks, chicken, turkey; there are somethings I need in bigger quantities & others I just don't! Love that it's shipped to my ranch for free! No extra cost like other clubs, it's included in the membership, and that the membership is a fraction of the cost of other clubs! Have you seen the bottom line? Seriously! Do a pros & cons list! My daughter used to have both memberships, now she shops with my mom, or sister in law for ond clubbing me for the other. I'm fine with that because it adds to my cash credit on my account, she's been so busy this last year, but before she was spending like $700 a month on my account if not more for her family of 4. She loved the deals and if she was running out of something she could call me say mom, order kraft Mac & cheese, Ramen, BBQ sause..sauce... I'll cash app you the money & know she'd have it in a few days shipped to my house, right next door, she could send the boys to grandma's. Instead of figure out when she'd have a chance to coordinate going to Tucson shopping, unloading, putting it all away, spending more than she intended, or her husband goes and buys, God only knows what...Lol there have been some stories. If you can imagine. Stuff, never used, projects never done, how many versions of one game system do you need, and the list goes on.
Oh but I did get as a gift the best ever whole home water softner system works as good if not better than the system I had in my home in North Scottsdale and I absolutely love it. Gosh it's something I've missed since moving to my new home in the mountains. My skin and hair haven't felt so good since I moved! Best decision ever! I add the salt and the salt cleaner bag it said every few months, but with only two people in my five bedroom home it's like every six months, I have my ranch hand check every couple of months to be safe & after any storm, or power outages. It's been wonderful! I had him built a cabinet for it and put waterproof coating on top, angled top, so most water runs off top. I had plumber install it for $125 (didn't have to pay $100 trip charge he was coming back to finish a plumbing job he needed parts for already) though my handyman could've installed it, I'd rather be...
Read moreA fews ago my wife brought home 4 slices of "roast beef", cut for sandwiches. Lunch meat manufactured from pressed meat pieces. The price tag said $5.27. I had to look a couple times to be sure. Over 20 dollars a pound!
The next week we joined Sam's Club. We opted for the 120 dollar a year version to get cash back discounts on purchases as well as free shipping on online orders. We use potassium chloride in our water softener which we used to get at the local supermarket but has become hard to get in the Tucson area. Even Costco stopped selling in stores and online. Sam's Club has it in the store and online. Problem solved. Next time I need 4 of those 40 pound bags I'm going to shop online!
But the big story is the Sam's Club store. Much larger than local supermarket competition. The staff is readily available, plus consistently friendly, professional and extremely customer service oriented. A refreshing change.
There are wide aisles so shopping is not like a freeway traffic jam. For every SKU, there are lots of brand choices.
Arguably most important, Sam's Club has much, much, lower prices than supermarkets. There's a really dramatic difference.
That said, we've been Costco members for 30 years and are big fans. Both Sam's Club and Costco offer much far more value per dollar than other available big box alternatives. But they are different. Sam's Club stocks shelves more like a supermarket vs. warehouse style at Costco. And the sizes, while still bigger than supermarkets are typically smaller at Sam's Club than Costco.
Because of economies of scale, Costco is probably less expensive, but Sam's Club is more convenient (and far less crowded!) as the size of merchandise packaging is somewhat smaller. So much more convenient for storage when we get back home. Also, Sam's Club has a huge snacks section.
Net-net, both alternatives are far superior to supermarkets. Sometimes, Costco is right for us. Sometimes, Sam's Club is the right choice.
Hence we will be happy customers of both Sam's Club and Costco going forward. And now we'll be even more successful in avoiding those huge markups taken by the supermarket duopoly...
Read moreTook my car for tire installation that I ordered online. Worst tire service that I’ve seen in my life. Do not bring your car here for tire installation!!! First of all just to do tire service they take 1-1:30 hour even with the appointment. Second, after waiting an hour I did not receive any information about my car. I needed to stand for at least 5 minutes at the “tire and battery center” desk to catch someone attention. After giving my keys back they provided me a list of work that they did in envelop and mentioned that one of my lug nut is in bad condition but I can still drive my car, in which I responded “okay, I have a spare lug nut at home”. I came to my car and first I see that my all my 4 doors are fully unlocked, second I see that my front tire missing a wheel cover ( hubcap), my reaction is like where is it? So, I am opening my front door and I see that on my passenger seat is sitting completely broken wheel cover and broken lug nut next to it. I was so confused and angry because the employees that working there never mentioned that they broke my wheel cover( hubcap)! I went to the front desk at tire and battery center with my broken wheel cover In my hands and I see 3 employees (one of them by the way is a MANAGER) talking to each for at least 5-10 minutes before come to me and ask to me what is wrong. I explained to me that why you guys mention in a paper about my broken lug nut, but never mentioned about broken wheel cover and left it as a SURPRISE for me in my car. One employee told me right away that he did put note about broken wheel cover but after checking paperwork i didn’t not find information about that. That’s where I catch him lying and ask why did he lie? In which he explained that he broke wheel cover after he did report on a paper work. Then manager named Gilbert approached and told me that he will reimburse money for one wheel cover when I will buy new 4 set of wheel covers because you can’t just buy one. Like I said WORST experience in my life EVER. I will come back with the update about if MANAGER GILBERT will or not reimburse my money back for the wheel cover! I repeat my self: WORST TIRE SERVICE...
