On March 28, 2025, my family and I visited the new Curacao at Tucson Mall. What began as an exciting family outing quickly turned into a frustrating experience due to the unprofessionalism and poor customer service demonstrated by four employees stationed at the front entrance three men and one woman.
When my husband and our older children entered the store, the four employees looked right at them, then immediately turned away and continued their personal conversation no greeting, no assistance, not even a nod of acknowledgment. I entered shortly after with our two younger kids, and again, not a single person acknowledged us. It was as if we were invisible.
After navigating to the electronics section on our own, we approached the front to ask for help. I stood in front of the female employee, who looked at me with visible attitude and asked, “Do you need something?” I responded that we needed help locating the portable speakers. Her reply? “Follow me so I can find someone” as if it were a burden. She then shouted across the department to an employee who was already helping another family and told him to help us, then walked away without another word.
That’s when Cruz stepped in. Despite already assisting another family, Cruz was incredibly responsive, attentive, and efficient. He hustled literally running back and forth to make sure both families were taken care of. He didn’t miss a beat. After finishing with the other family, he came to us and gave us his full attention, answering our questions and guiding us through the options. Thanks to Cruz, we purchased a speaker that night.
What really set Cruz apart was his professionalism, respect for our space, and deep product knowledge. He made us feel valued, which was a stark contrast to the initial cold reception. I even told him how rare it is these days to find someone who actually cares about the customer experience.
As we were preparing to check out, my husband and I discussed purchasing TVs for our children’s bedrooms. We decided to buy three TVs, and Cruz helped us with that purchase as well. I requested to speak with his manager, Cristian, to formally commend Cruz’s exceptional service.
Cristian arrived promptly, listened sincerely, and apologized repeatedly for the poor service we experienced at the front of the store. Although the issue wasn’t directly his fault, he took full accountability and worked to make it right. His professionalism and positive attitude were refreshing and appreciated.
As we exited the store, the same four front-end employees were still standing around, and their shocked expressions said it all they couldn’t believe we walked out with multiple high-ticket items after being ignored by them. Their lack of engagement cost them commission, but it earned Cruz and Cristian our loyalty.
Final Thoughts: Cruz deserves TEN gold stars. His exceptional customer service, positive attitude, product knowledge, and respect made all the difference. If you’re shopping at Curacao Tucson, ask for Cruz you’ll be in excellent hands. And kudos to Cristian for stepping up as a manager and making us feel heard.
It’s a shame that our first impression of this location was soured by unprofessional staff who clearly had no interest in assisting customers, but thanks to Cruz and Cristian, we will give this store another chance.
Thank you, Cruz and Cristian you are the reason...
Read moreThis place is new they just moved here from the south side. I came in here one day when I was shopping at the mall to see what they have and to check out the new location. As I was walking around I I noticed that there are a lot of employees not around. Caribbean holiday season I would have expected more employees but I didn't see anybody. This store is weird because you don't really know what they sell they kind of just sell everything so you don't think that anything they do sell is good. They should really think about specializing in something and really getting good and giving a good product assortment in that category alone. But anyway so they have some cheap toys they have TVs and electronics they have perfumes and colognes but I can't even bet money that those are not counterfeit colognes and perfumes so I would be weary buying that stuff because you just don't want to buy that kind of stuff it's not good for the economy. They also have like a jewelry area which is a tiniest jewelry area I've ever seen in any store. Oh and they also have housewares random housewares stuff my dad actually bought a clock for the wall that he liked. but when it came to check out we were really treated badly because we asked a worker if the counter was open and she said yeah but she ended up walking away going to go do something talking to another worker and she spoke to us and only Spanish which was okay it was a brief interaction maybe she assumed we only knew spanish. Restate standing there at the counter thinking she was going to come back to help us but she was just taking her sweet time finally she saw us and came back and she ranged us up for the clock but she didn't know how to tell us how much it cost in English like this worker literally knew 0% English. She asked my dad if he spoke Spanish and we do speak Spanish but it was odd that she didn't know English so she told us the price in Spanish I just thought it was unprofessional. Aside from the customer service the store is really dirty if you look at the floor and you look under the display tables there's dust bunnies inches big this store barely opened a few weeks ago I can't believe it's this dirty it's like it's never been cleaned since they opened. the manager of this store should really consider just doing a walk-through and completely looking into perspective from the customer and what the customer sees. The floors being dirty is just unacceptable either the store is just too cheap or they're too lazy and the manager is not making sure it's getting done so technically I blame the manager. Because it's his job to make sure that his store is clean. In summary I just won't be coming back to the store I really don't have a need for anything they sell that I can't get anywhere else the prices are okay but if the customer service experience is poor the product assortment is poor the displays are kind of ugly like why would you even come to the store. If they want to compete they better pick up their game. Also at the store managers are reading this not one person greeted me and my father when we walked in and browse the store for at least 20 minutes the first interaction was when we walked up to the associate to ask...
Read moreThis store is horrible ever since they moved from the southside to the north side inside of the Tucson mall it’s been a complete mess. The workers here suck they will sell you anything and lie about it. For example, my boyfriend bought a PlayStation portal and we tried it out and it was just overall bad The connection sucks. It takes forever to connect to Wi-Fi. You can’t even use it unless you’re right next to the PlayStation itself the salesman Jorge I think his name was some short guy in the electronics department Told my boyfriend that if he did change his mind and return it(after opening ) was okay and that he would just pay a small fee being that the item was used. He had the PlayStation portal for a week before he type decided to return it typically their return period is 14 days. When we spoke to The salesman about it, he proceeded to act like he didn’t know what I was talking about and told me that I could only talk to a manager. And when I talk to the manager, she was no help at all, and she first told us that She would make an exception and return it as long as he bought something from that same department, and after that, she ended up saying that He Would have to buy something that cost as much as the portal so at this point, why would he want to buy anything if they’re just telling everything to you with lies And they’re not helping at all with any return returns. This...
