As a delivery driver, it felt really nice to be ignored by the 6 people working there. Parking is bad, and as I waited by the pick up sign, then I moved to the other long line to finally get the customer's order. Some people do not have the time to wait in line while people pick their drinks...
Time is money, and crossing Tanque Verde with the drivers out there, might not be the best idea. That is a minor point. As I am very new to the area, I am not even sure where the suggested parking place is, and I am just guessing.
I didn't post this for a free gift card. I posted this because I think that was the worst experience I had in a restaurant as a person walking in for the first time.
It is a teachable moment to your staff.
I am a 25 year vertran of working and running FOH and BOH operations at single and multiple locations for many places. Then I worked as a Chef, and got my Associates, Bachelor's, and Master's degree in HR from ECC, and Niagara University respectively. In 2017, at the tender age of 37. All while as a Chef at this premiere adult care facility in New York, and maintaining a 3.6-3.8 GPA working 40 plus hours. I had no life during that time. However, I was able to be successful at both by making sure I took care of my customers and my school work. Using the hospitality lessons I learned over my career.
Real good circumstances led me to Tucson, but now here I am, struggling to find a job in ANY of the fields that I have worked in. It's tough out there. For an "snow bird" even tougher, as I have put in hundreds of applications for HR and Hospitality positions. No luck, and even fewer interviews. I dont stop applying, but I can get down on myself for not being able to find a place to work.
...So when I come in to pick up an online delivery order, that, was already made, marinating in the lower reach-in cooler, and some of the ice was melted , the tell tell tale water ring of melted ice, when I got it, and to get absolutely SNUBBED, that is best I can describe it, for at least 10-15 minutes, it's not a good feeling. Horrible. Not good at all. Not even an eyeroll, because that would have been an acknowledgment.
Yet, even though that is I feel how I feel, I stil think can be a salvaged lesson for your staff.
I did not get rude, or curse or get huffy with them. As we all know via the internet, these things can happen. We see it every day. We say, wow, that is wild, what would drive someone to that?
Sometimes we all forget that a little kindness goes a long way. Was this not the birthplace of "Be Kind"? So a "Can I help you?", even if I am in the wrong spot, line, area, whatever would have fixed this. I was standing by the online order sign, and the small pick up counter.

Read moreAs the current manager of Caffeine Cauldron, I absolutely have to rave about Taylor and Scented Leaf! From the moment Taylor approached Caffeine Cauldron to propose a partnership, we knew we were in for something special. As a cafe that prides itself on working with other local businesses, we were immediately intrigued, and after hearing his pitch, it was a no-brainer to collaborate, and I’m so glad we did. Over the past year, Taylor has been an incredible rep.
Working with him has not only made bringing Scented Leaf teas into our cafe seamless but has also elevated our menu in meaningful ways. The high-quality products he provides have enhanced every “potion” on our menu, and even beyond that, our overall beverage offerings have become more exciting and dynamic. Our customers are thrilled to see their favorite local tea company represented at Caffeine Cauldron, and we often hear positive feedback about how much they love these drinks.
Taylor consistently goes above and beyond to make the partnership smooth and enjoyable. He ensures our orders arrive on time, provides thoughtful recommendations for tea and flavor pairings, and is always ready to lend a hand, even when I have to park down the street to pick up an order. His kindness, professionalism, and genuine passion for Scented Leaf shine through in every interaction.
On a personal note, Taylor has played a huge role in my own tea journey. Thanks to his guidance and enthusiasm, I find myself drinking Scented Leaf tea throughout the day at work and turning to them whenever I’m running around Tucson. He’s not just a supplier, he’s an advocate for great tea and a pleasure to work with. We can’t recommend Taylor and Scented Leaf enough to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgeable friend in...
Read moreParking is so so so so bad here. Not to mention, even with upgraded seating I can rarely find somewhere to sit. During the summers when there are no students here, this is a great place. But now, you’ll have to walk 10 minutes on the asphalt to get back to your car. And then all the seats are taken. The tea is great, the service is awesome. If we had decent public transportation, maybe it would work. But with no parking and no seating I’m not going back until the summer.
All the neighboring businesses make sure nobody from scented leaf parks there. Why? Cause there’s only about 10 spots reserved for the tea house.
The first time this was a problem was 2 weeks ago. I parked all the way down the street, and when I arrived with my client for a meeting, there was no seating. We just left without buying anything. Wasting our time and draining our energy in the sun. Last week I stopped by just for a drink, and I had to park really far and then walk really far just to get a drink. Never doing it again. Today, I drove by at 9am to try and get there early to do some computer work. No spots to park anywhere except really far down the street, and now they have cones blocking off 3 of the 10 parking spots.
I can get tea elsewhere. Going here is a massive waste of time and energy, especially when it’s so hot outside! I think other people will soon realize the parking and seating situation is out of hand and stop going until the students leave again.
If they open a dedicated parking lot, I would go and get tea at least. I understand they only have so much room for seating. But I can’t even pull up into a 10min spot and grab a...
