El Costal Mexican Restaurant & Grill — Restaurant in Tullahoma

This restaurant used to be the only good Mexican restaurant in Tullahoma. Oh how the mighty have fallen. I have never, NEVER had a worse experience at a restaurant. My party (a party of only 4 people) went in and we were seated relatively quickly. That, however, is where the positivity stops and the negativity begins. Once we were seated, it took the waiter 15 minutes just to come over to our table bringing us chips and salsa and take our drink order. Then, after another 15 minute spell, he finally shows up with our drinks, which were ALL WRONG. The salsa that he brought us tasted like it had been left out overnight and then reserved to us. The chips, dare I call them chips, where all like rubber chunks of grease. When the waiter FINALLY, after more than 20 minutes, came to take our food order I told him that I would like the check because I did not want to eat there.

Now granted, this was trivia night. However, the music and commentator were so loud that my party could not even hear our own conversations. When the waiter asked me what was the problem and why we were leaving, I politely told him that it was far too loud in here, and I also mentioned the issues with the drinks, chips, salsa, and timeframe that he took to bring us all of the above. He looked so confused and could not seem to figure out what I was talking about. He spoke very good English so there was no language barrier, he just did not seem to care about his customers. He would also not have a manager come to the table to discuss our issues. After making sure that there was no issues with the check, my party and I got up and left. Regardless of the fact that you may be having trivia night at a restaurant, that does not mean that you can just forget about and pushoff your other customers who choose not to play your trivia game. And for gods sake, there is absolutely no need to drown out every single conversation with the music. I suggest that Las Trojas changes some things or they are going to start losing more and...

2/8/2025: Nachos Fajitas, chicken, a great meal. 12/3/2023: Taco Salad Hawaiiano, with chicken: Excellent. 10/8/2023: BBQ Nachos, grilled chicken and sopaillla with ice cream. Very nice. 7/7/2023: Lunch was Pollo Sabrozo w/thin slices of chicken breast. The chicken was wonderfully prepared with pineapple slices & white cheese sauce. A great meal. 7/2/2023: Enchilados Rancheros w/chicken. This was so good. Another wonderful entrée I will order again. Service so friendly and prompt. 6/10/2023: Beef chimichanga meal today - excellent! Update of meal enjoyed on 5/28/2023: Pollo Hawaiiano: tender chicken white meat pieces with thin-sliced ham & big pineapple pieces. I asked to leave off the rice & beans. Update: wonderful lunch of BBQ Nachos with beef steak. So full of flavor.! Fried ice cream for dessert, excellent! Today, Jan. 15. 2023: Excellent meal! : Taco Salad Fajitas Hawaiiano with beef. The food wasn't bad, just not my favorite. The queso was chunky on our food and obviously hadnt been stirred in awhile. The service was not the best. Hardly got anyone to wait on us. As soon as our food was out, we were basically invisible and had to flag a server down to get a refill on drink after almost eating our whole meal without a refill. The margaritas are excellent though. Good size and tasty with a smooth texture. I understand they were busy, but tables around us got way more service because they were larger tables with more guests. Both bathrooms have janky stalls for people who need to accessible stalls. The one in the women's bathroom has a broken latch and the one in the men's bathroom has a toilet that my an average person has trouble fitting on. My boyfriend couldn't even fit on any of the men's toilets and he's not a huge guy.

Otherwise, I wouldn't say it's a terrible restaurant. Just not a place I'd prefer to...
