It's not a road trip without a stop for coffee to fuel for the way home. Fuel So Good wound up being that stop on my recent visit to Tullahoma.
The signage is fairly nondescript and I drove past the place looking for it. Had to pull into a neighboring business lot and turn around and go back.
It's small on the inside and weirdly dim despite decent-sized windows. Definitely need a computer or a Kindle with backlighting if you were going to read or work here comfortably. It's a somewhat small space that just feels a little awkward, like another reviewer mentioned. It was clean though.
Service wasn't effusively friendly and didn't greet me or ask if I had any questions as I perused the menu, but their tone was polite and warm enough when I actually placed my order.
I got a smaller sized iced latte with chocolate/mint syrup as I love a good peppermint-type mocha and many places only have them around the winter holidays. I also nabbed a banana chocolate chip muffin because that's one of my favorite muffin flavors. My drink was made very quickly. No one offered to heat up the muffin but I wouldn't have said no if they had, lol. Oh well, not a big deal.
The muffin was really good and likely would've been even better with some melty chips. Definite strong, fresh, real banana taste (even some gooey banana-y bites) and lots of big chocolate chips inside tender, soft cake.
The drink was...less good. It was giving much less chocolate and mint and much more watery Colgate. Mint is always a risky flavor add-in and unfortunately this fell on the wayyyy too heavy side, such that it was all I could taste, overwhelming not just the chocolate and milk but also the coffee. I didn't drink much of it.
If I were to return, I'd definitely re-up on the muffin but try a different...
Read moreTullahoma is up to around 7 coffee shops, and I think that two more are to open soon.
Fuel So Good is consistently the best option! I get the same drink each visit and it never disappoints! It’s a relief to order a drink and not worry about certain baristas making it their own way.
I often go through the drive through, but when I go inside it’s always cozy. You can tell it’s locally owned because it’s clean and well cared for.
The crew behind the counter is always kind! Also a relief to see the same faces each time.
I’m obsessed with the blueberry banana muffin and the banana chocolate chip muffin. You will not get muffins like these anywhere else! ALSO I was getting my coffee and realized I needed lunch too…I do not like fruit or nuts in my chicken salad. However…..Fuel So Good has changed my opinion. I couldn’t leave without lunch, so I was going to stomach the chicken salad (containing craisins and nuts). I’m still baffled that I enjoyed the chicken salad wrap! So much so that I would eat it again by choice and not as a last resort—lol.
All of this to say—-I love fuel so good and can’t wait for my next stop! Keep doing exactly what...
Read moreOh my goodness we’re so sad we are just visiting Tennessee otherwise this would be our regular spot! First off, they have SOLID gluten free, dairy free, vegan options in coffee and bakery items! We got the gluten free pumpkin donut bites and my husband didn’t even realize they were gluten free - so well done!!! The coffees are insanely smooth and yummy. Lots of ways to customize your drink order with their various syrup options (and even substantial sugar free ones!). The staff was friendly and the space was cozy! We came back two days in a row (aka as much as we could)!!! I ordered a raspberry, vanilla oat milk latte and it was the best I’ve ever had - seriously. Husband got the mounds frappe and was also...
