I visited The Brook South at 91st and Memorial on a recent Monday evening. The dining area is mostly made up of booths, which I love. They seem to have been recently reupholstered because they were extra cushy, just what you want when youâre settling in for a big meal. The multiple TVs scattered throughout both the dining room and the bar area keep sports fans engaged without overwhelming the casual diner. It's a space that feels laid-back but still lively.
The service at The Brook South is one of its strong points. The staff works as a well-oiled machine, with a team-oriented approach that means youâre never waiting long for anything. Itâs not unusual to have several different staff members checking on you during your visit, making sure everything is up to par. The manager is often out on the floor too, adding a personal touch and ensuring that everyone is having a great experience. The Brook is known for its legendary portion sizes. Seriously, come hungry. I ordered my usual, the plant-based burger, it never disappoints. Itâs my favorite veggie burger in Tulsa and comes with two smash burger-style patties, stacked high with all the classic burger fixings. The flavor and texture are so spot on, it could easily fool a meat-eater. It satisfies that junk food craving in a way thatâs rare for plant-based options, making it a top contender in my book.
The fries are another highlight for me. They're skin-on, fresh hand-cut fries, which I love. Whatâs fun about The Brookâs fries is that they can be a bit of a surprise. Sometimes they come out crispy, and other times theyâre softer. I enjoy them both ways, so Iâm always game for whatever the kitchen decides. If youâve got a preference, you can definitely request them cooked a certain way, which is a nice touch.
Though I always frequent the South location, The Brook has two other spots around town. Iâve yet to try their downtown location, but itâs definitely on my list. If itâs anything like the South, Iâm sure itâll be a great experience.
As for value, The Brook really shines. My plant-based burger and fries, along with a soda, came to just $20. For the sheer amount of food and the quality, thatâs a fantastic deal.
The Brook South continues to deliver on what makes it a beloved spot in Tulsa, big portions, friendly service, and a comfortable, relaxed vibe. Whether youâre craving a burger that hits the spot or a casual place to watch the game, itâs hard to go wrong here. And with locations spread across the city, youâve got options depending on your mood or where you...
Read moreThis is updating my post for my last experience which was five stars for everything. This time I gave the food and atmospheres five stars as before But the waitress was only a two and that was being generous. We got there at 5:00 not very busy there were four of us we ordered a chicken salad, French dip, macaroni and cheese, and beef nachos. The waitress seemed in such a hurry we literally sat down raise the menu up and she asked if we were ready to order We had not even had an opportunity to look at the menu not too big of a deal but when we were served our food which is always exceptional It is no joke I had not even eaten my second nacho and she asked if we would like a to-go box We all kind of looked at her a little crazy because one guest had not even poured his salad dressing yet so we stated yes but we would like to wait until after we've eaten. Not one time did she ask if we would like additional beverages or refills of our beverages as she was walking by and did not even slow down asked if we wanted boxes we stated yes but.... Never even got out that I needed to small boxes for mine since it was going to two different homes. She brought the check at the same time we were never asked if we wanted anything else to drink a dessert or anything. I understand turning tables I understand it Saturday night but we had not even been there 20 minutes asked if we wanted a box that is a bit too much and to never return to ask if we wanted anything. I love the brook I will continue to go there I have nothing negative to say about it except for her, but if this was my first time there I could see how somebody would probably leave a very negative comment and maybe not give the place a second chance but everybody else in the restaurant was exceptional as always I just hope that this server can get the training necessary because it is not indicative of how awesome the restaurant usually is. (Server was experienced, seasoned...
Read moreThis restaurant could do better. It fails in focusing on the little details.
I had the ½ pound bacon cheese burger and the fresh cut fries. The burger was excellent. The thick beef patty was cooked exactly as ordered and escorted by fresh LTPO&M. The fries wellâŚ. Who doesnât like those little over cooked crunchy crispy French fry pieces. Tasty because they are almost burnt and saturated with oil. But, would you like a plate full of them. A plate full of crumbs. Fryer left overs. This doesnât match the pictures of the long finger length fries posted on Google and Yelp. Cooks, pay attention to the details. Someone somewhere is going to take a picture of your work. My wife had the Caribbean Salad. A big fresh salad with a nice grilled marinated chicken breast. It came with a small cup of perfect guacamole. She chose the Tomato Vinaigrette dressing recommended by our server Hannah. The perfect dressing for this salad. The down side was the harsh garlic flavor in the marinade used on the grilled chicken breast. It was fresh garlic, just too much in the house made marinade; overpowering all the other flavors in the salad. Back off a little on the garlic. The service was friendly, attentive and responsive. The Brook is just not quite good enough to draw me back more frequently. My last visit was May of 2019, pre Covid. The first thing I noticed today were plexiglass panels that are still up, standing guard, providing that lifesaving impenetrable wall of protection between each booth. Installed sometime during the pandemic as a result of the hysteria created from the misguided incompetence spewed from those heavily invested in big pharma and plexiglass manufacturing. I felt uncomfortable today not having a mask on while chewing my food. Not criticism of the restaurant. An action they had to take to try to stay in business. It was a tough time for everyone. Well at least they are up and ready for the...
