I was suggested to try Oliveto by a local that stated they had the "friendliest service and best Italian around!" needless to say I was not impressed.
My wife and I placed an order on May 6, 2020 and I went to pick up the order. My first impression was three different staff, one hostess on the phone refusing to acknowledge me as I entered and two more that made it obvious that they had no idea what their soup of the day was. I stood waiting for a few minutes after attempting twice to get the attention of the hostess that was on the phone. Out of curiosity I looked at the staged order on their table for take out and noticed my name was on the receipt and began making sure the order was there, which it was from what I could tell. After verifying the contents I noticed the food was lukewarm (which the order was placed 20 minutes before) that could have been avoided but at this point I was already aggravated by the lack of professionalism and just wished to pay and get home to eat. I left and arrived home not much later and began dispersing the meals to my wife and children then came to mine, the four cheese ravioli and a starter of the pepperoni bread. I was not impressed the slightest bit.
The pepperoni bread had one very thin layer of mozzarella, (my estimate would be roughly 4 grams.) the dough was tasteless and under cooked with a total of 7 slices of pepperoni within. I've had single slices of pizza with more toppings and flavor and for a lot less than $6.75.
The 4 cheese ravioli (Ravioli Red & White) was a severe letdown. The only cheese within the Ravioli I could even remotely identify was ricotta and had the taste of frozen, freshly thawed. There were 6 ravioli smothered in a very greasy, runny and tasteless attempted blend of marinara (which is the exact same that came with the pepperoni bread,) and a watery, under-seasoned flavorless Alfredo soup. I've seen thicker Alfredo sauces straight out of a jar which tells me little to no starch or that it was watered down. An addition to this meal and the one my wife ordered, which I will touch on next were two very slim three inch long bread sticks that had the same lackluster seasoning as the pepperoni bread. Needless to say I did not finish this meal even with the underwhelming portion and ended up making another meal.
My wife ordered the "Andouille Sausage and Shrimp Creole Pasta." The dish is claimed to be sautéed shrimp, Andouille sausage with roasted tomatoes in a spicy creme sauce, where to begin let's start with the sausage. The sausage had no unique flavors other than a slight bell pepper hint (I had to sample my wife's because of my disappointment with my own dish and starter.) I was fully expecting a smoky and spicy flavor which was not present. The pasta was slick enough that the sauce would not stick onto it, soggy and unsalted. My best guess would be boxed bow tie pasta boiled in just water and strained directly onto the plate or pasta that had been steeping all day. The creme sauce tasted like heavy creme, unsalted with a slight hint of parsley and no other notable flavors, again this was about the same consistency as my own Alfredo "sauce". The shrimp, unless sautéed in white wine was completely flavorless, even lacking most of the flavor of shrimp. This tells me that it was not properly sautéed. Again this meal was not finished either.
My experience with the lack of flavors, improper cooking techniques and substandard service will be summed up as this. If you're thinking of ordering from/dining within don't expect quality, quantity,...
Read moreWas at the restaurant yesterday, and we were seated immediately by the man at the front who was friendly. I got the alfredo and it was just ok, nothing amazing but it wasn't terrible either. The service for me was the problem. We had never been here before and after Jada took our drink order we told her that we would like to look over the menu a little bit. She returned after what seemed like a quick walk around the dining area and said "ready to order yet" which was a little jarring, but we went ahead and ordered. There were maybe three other tables with people while we were there and after getting our food within ten minutes she asked if we wanted dessert and dropped off the check. Which seemed to me to be rushing us as we had hoped to stay and talk a bit, but then as we continued to eat our food she came back twice for the book. The first time she simply asked "all finished?" the second time she just grabbed the check and began to walk off before I called out to her and told her there was nothing in it. After she returned it, she went to where I assume the register is and speaking with her coworkers and saying "they're literally just sitting there," "I gotta go get my kids from daycare and this is taking too long," "the daycare is gonna be calling me, I gotta go get my kids." Even now am dumbfounded by our treatment, with the prices of everything people go out to eat to relax and socialize, and its not like we had been there for hours or that the place was packed with people, because if that was the case I would have understood. When I did open the bill, there was only a plain receipt inside, not the merchant and the customer copies. I had asked her and she said "there were two papers in there when I handed it over" Again I was jarred. I informed her that when I opened it there was only one receipt, I'm not sure what happened but I don't have the copies. A couple minutes later she comes back with the copies and says it must have got left at the register. Overall a very bad experience here, I have never been rushed like this in a restaurant, we couldn't have been there for more than 30-45 minutes and again, there was next to no one in the restaurant at the time. The food didn't make up for the rude service so we have no interest in...
Read moreJust moved to Tulsa and thought I would try something new… The atmosphere was great! Love the lighting and ambiance of the place. The wait staff was less than busy, even though the restaurant was busy. They all just stood around at the expo line chit chatting. I enjoyed eating ice from my glass most of the evening as there wasn’t a drink in it for the majority of the time. After a few minutes, I decided to time the waitress to see how long it would be before she decided to bring me a refill – 4m 57s and that was after I had waited a while. We had ordered an appetizer, pepperoni bread, that took 25m to come out of the oven (or microwave?). It tasted like a hot pocket. The marinara sauce that came with it tasted like Chef Boyardee sauce, and that is being generous. The two entrées came out shortly thereafter, Mac and cheese and cheese and cheese and Chicken Parmesan. I believe the Kraft box Mac and Cheese would’ve been more appealing and once again, the sauce on the Chicken Parmesan, which was switched to Alfredo, tasted as if from a can. When the check came, I was surprised to see the cost of the meal. From the taste, I was expecting a McDonald’s or Fazzoli’s price (I don’t look at prices when I order; I just get what sounds good). The meal was slightly higher than an Olive Garden meal that we had the week prior and the quality wasn’t even close, not that Olive Garden is high quality by any means. Overall, the experience was bleh… That’s all I can say about it. Save your money and go to Wal-Mart and purchase a Stouffer’s meal. It will taste better, TRUST ME! The wait staff needs to be retrained and/or cut if they can just stand around, so they aren’t all standing around doing nothing and cluttering up the back of the restaurant. Being a waiter myself for years during my college career, I’ve learned a very valuable lesson: “TIME TO LEAN, TIME TO CLEAN.” Take heed to this advice Oliveto. I will NOT be returning, but thanks for...
