After hearing great things about their food my 3 year old son and I decided to try it out after church with a couple of friends. At first everything was as normal service was as expected. As soon as our food arrived I noticed an old couple pointing and whispering about my AUTISTIC 3 year old child, I assumed they were upset about him spilling the salt and pepper on the window seal they called over their waitress and without asking any questions the waitress walks over and very loudly and inappropriately demands I stop him because he can get the salt on the bitter couple sitting 2 BOOTHS DOWN I explained to her that i would clean up the salt and pepper and that he is an autistic child who is not going to sit and stay because she said so, instead of coming to a resolution she storms off and gets the manager. at this point i was in tears as many parents who have kids with special needs understand going out to a restaurant can be a challenge I was trying to enjoy my meal while it was still hot. i always pick up after my son wherever we go and even offered to pay for the salt and pepper shakers. The manager came over and was very kind and understanding and even took care of our tab, moral of the story my son was not the only child there being seen or heard he was although the only child of color. If elder adults would like to eat without the presence of children please plan to eat where senior citizens are eating with a no children allowed policy. The only good thing about the place was the manager, bless this man who was willing to be educated on autism and had no problem with my son shaking the salt shaker around. Maybe this will be a learning experience for their staff but i would not recommend you eat there if you have a loved one with a disability as you will be loudly asked in front of the entire restaurant to control your child. Ignorance is bliss friends, learn to mind your business or eat alone at home where no brown children are laughing and enjoying the day. I too was a paying customer who deserved the same respect and grace she gave that couple unfortunately we did not receive from the very...
Read moreI really liked this restaurant the outside patio has the best views during lunch or sunset dinners. Which I highly recommend. I had the pleasure of experiencing both today. The staff were super friendly with me and my service dog Diesel plus my gluten intolerant allergy. So if you have a service dog or allergic to gluten this restaurant gets a thumbs up from the both of us. I settled on the Cobb salad for lunch as you can see from the pictures it was very well prepared with very colorful flavors. Lots of bacon, eggs, grilled chicken, tomatoes, with the good lettuces not the cheap iceberg. The drink I had was a strawberry lemonade that was mixed up it was delicious. Try it. The appetizer was tomato, feta, vinaigrette was delicious. The best was saved for last. The chocolate brownie with ice cream and whipped cream was to die for. The warm chocolate filling of the brownie bursting with flavor adding the cold ice cream was heavenly. You will not be disappointed and it is all gluten free. For dinner I picked the fettuccine Alfredo with blackened chicken and mushrooms. Wow the pasta was cooked to perfection with lots of mushrooms and had a little bite to it spice wise made the finishing touch. As I was eating the sunset just over the river, bridges, and landscapes. Truly a magical experience. If all this doesn't get you in your right now and head down to eat I am not sure what will. 🤗 The restaurant is in a nice plaza too for some quick shopping for the ladies, to working out, or t-mobile services. Tell them I sent you. Check out my reviews as me and service dog Diesel travel the U.S. for the second time trying new a fun places and restaurants along the way. To the restaurant owner and manager thank you for the excellent trained staff and exceptional...
Read moreHas this happened to you when ordering gluten-free? As a Celiac, I feel like I run into issues that would never be chill with the general public.
Yesterday my husband and I went to Napa Flats in Tulsa, Oklahoma for lunch before flying home. The restaurant was suggested to me by the gluten-free Tulsa Facebook group.
I noticed that the queso appetizer was marked as gluten-free and was $10 on the menu. It didn't say what it was served with and our server told me it was served with corn chips when I asked.
I told him I was Celiac and asked if it was fried together with the fried chicken, which would contaminate it. He told me it was in a separate fryer.
Afterward he came back and told me the chef didn't think that it was safe for celiacs so they were subbing vegetables. I got a small plate of baby carrots and cucumber - not enough to eat all the queso with, and they charged me $2 extra for it! You'd think if it's marked $10 and gluten-free, they wouldn't charge you extra to make it "for real gluten-free." Undisclosed charges are the sort of thing that makes eating with an autoimmune disease infinitely more annoying.
In total we ordered: Korean rib appetizer - $13 gluten-free Napa Queso with vegetables - $12 Pork chop with mashed potatoes and green beans $22 gluten-free Chicken Sonoma with steamed vegetables $21
The food tasted good, were large portions and looked nice. While it was a cloudy, stormy day, it's right on the river so you could eat outside with a river view in better weather.
Would I go back? I'm not sure. Undisclosed charges always put a sour taste in my...
