This is such a wonderful sandwich shop. I've been going here for many years. Yeah I may not go often but that's only because I don't have a lot of money so I have to be careful how much I spend. Anyways the food is delicious and compared to Subway a half sandwich is more than enough for me it actually feels like a whole sandwich and that plus chips and a drink only cost me roughly $10 total. At Subway I usually end up paying like $17 total so if I feel like eating a sub sandwich unless I'm out of town I may just get it here.
Update: Unfortunately, I am decreasing this from a 5 star to a 2 star, and here's why. The other day, I was on my lunch break. Keep in mind that I only get a 30-minute break unpaid, but this 30-minute break turned into a 47-minute break. I was 17 minutes over my time because the staff took way too long to make my sandwich. I ordered and actually ended up waiting exactly 30 minutes and finally I had to go back and ask what the delay was and it turns out they didn't even start my sandwich yet so I had to wait a few minutes and after that they were finally done. When I got back I had to eat I had to explain why I was so late but thankfully my boss understood and didn't write me up. If he would have I would've made this a 1 star. A shift lead at my work told me the staff tends to slack off and sometimes forget people's orders so first off that should stop but second for those that are on a time crunch the lesson is definitely call ahead of time so that by the time you get to the place all you have to do is pick it up and go and I think that's what I will do next time. If that goes smoothly I'll consider changing this back to a 5 star. Overall the sandwich itself is amazing this 2 star review is because staff tends to slack off and sometimes people wait way too long for their orders which shouldn't be happening not all of us have all day. Some of us have places to be. Alright I'm done...
Read moreLet me start out by saying Meconis subs are fantastic, so much so that I have been going weekly since I was a freshman in highschool 9 years ago. I don’t live in thurston county so it’s quite the drive up for me to go, but I do it regardless because I love the subs. I usually go to lacey locations. Today I ordered online on a lunch break & didn’t know that thurston county had reinforced mask mandates. So I went in to pick up & asked if they had masks, they didn’t. So I called to see if I could get my order brought to me by the door & she said no that’s not something she is willing to offer me. She was so rude about the entire situation & made me feel stupid which was so unnecessary. I don’t live in this county so I was unaware. She didn’t want to bring my food, didn’t want to do a return & I watched her carry two gentleman’s food to them at the soda machine (RIGHT NEXT TO THE DOOR!!!) completely disregarding me. End of story, I had to ask a random customer walking in to pick up my order for me as they refused to bring it to me. I am appalled at the customer service I have received today. I understand as a small business you have to follow things to stay in business… but it was an honest mistake, I drove 45 minutes outta my town to pick a sub up from Meconi’s specifically & on the flip side you gotta keep customers happy to stay open too. The extra 5 steps to the door from the soda machine & a little less rude on the phone would’ve gone a LONG way. Instead, I’m taking a break from my weekly subs until...
Read moreMeconi's has great sandwiches and salads. I find their soups to be very salty. I think they are packaged and not homemade, so they are likely packed with sodium. The Tumwater location has hand sanitizer but no masks available. If you forget your mask, too bad. No Meconi's for you. I had some extra, new masks in my car, so I set them out and handed one to a gentleman who was told he couldn't order without a mask. He apologized for forgetting and was holding his coat up entirely covering his nose and mouth. Nobody said a word to him until he had waited in line for several minutes and finally reached the counter to order. Also, you can't grab your own chips or cooler drinks (still). I think we have all known for quite some time that it is safe to get your own items...we all grocery shop, etc, without someone having to get the items off the shelf for us. I like to begin eating my chips while waiting for my food, but no-can-do because they have to get everything for you. With short staff, it would be helpful to let customers get some items for themselves to free up staff time to take and prepare orders. We love the food, though, so we do keep going. They really should put out masks or offer one to customers who don't have one rather than asking them to leave. Ask them to leave if they won't put one on. The small stack I shared was gone before I left the store...saving them several sales or at least providing convenience to their customers who forgot entirely or forgot their...
