I love Captain D's! There are occasions that they are under staffed or just busy. I always get water with my meal. Their water cups could or should be bigger. I had to start bringing in my own water bottle. I didn't want to keep bothering the ladies at the front counter. I love to get a 3 pc. battered fish, with the classic sides. The fish is always fresh & crispy! If you are taking it togo, ask for your sauces. Especially, the malt vinegar! Even, if you are eating in, still ask for Captain D's sauce. Sometimes the lady at the front counter will run your order to you. I think that's really nice! There are days that you might have to wait extra time to order or you receive your food. But, it is always fresh! **Side note- the music playing was a bit too much R&B/Hip-Hop/Rap. I personally didn't mind it. I could tell that the older people weren't a fan. Even some of the words in the songs shouldn't been said or maybe offensive to some people. I do enjoy dining here. Don't start with the country music again, though. So, please don't get me wrong. This is just my 2 cents. I do love...
Read moreI ordered some of the battered fish back on January 6th. When I got home with it and tasted it, it made me gag and I had to spit it out. It smelled rotten and had brown spots in it. So I called and they offered to remake it if I had the receipt.
Since it’s been icy, I haven’t had the chance to go back until on January 23. I explained what I was told over the phone to basically being told that wasn’t true by the GM. And she was very unprofessional, arguing with me and even raised her voice at my boyfriend, refused a refund, said that no one would’ve told us that it would be remade (practically called us liars), and argued that the fish wasn’t rotten. That it’s a new fish they’re using and that’s just the way it tastes now. (I tried looking up any factual information on this and can’t find any.)
After she finally remade it and I got home with it, it was the same quality as last time. Rotten tasting/smelling with brown spots.
I don’t think it’s ‘new’ fish. I think it’s bad fish being sold as ‘new’.
Feeling very disrespected and don’t plan to be back.
Do with that...
Read moreConfession...I have never eaten at Cap'n D's before today. And now I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner! I got the 2 piece and 6 shrimp plate w/ a loaded baked potato & green beans. My friend got the 3 piece, and my kiddo got a kid's 1 piece, both w/ mac & chz and fries. Total of the bill was 26.58. We all loved everything on our plates with the exception of the green beans. I'll skip those next time. The shrimp was delicious! We soaked our fish in malt vinegar and dipped it in the Cap'n D's sauce...yum! High fives and gold stars to the staff. As I was ordering, I mentioned that it was my first time eating there, so as we were walking out, even though she had a lobby full, the sweet lady behind the counter stopped what she was doing to ask me how I liked it. It was so genuine and it made my day. I told her...I LOVED it! Would have gone back just for the service even if I hadn't liked the food. Give that...
