I enjoy eating here, at busy times, like lunch & dinner. Those times include 11am-1pm or 5:30pm-7pm. That is when food is plentiful & cooked fresh, due to more people eating. If you go between 2pm-5pm or closer to closing, the food might be a little warm or dry, not as fresh. And, definitely don't go closer to closing, because they stop cooking food around 45 mins to closing. You're basically stuck with what ever is left. Lunch is a decent price, adults $10.99. Dinner on the other hand, is $13.99 adults... if I'm not mistaken. The only true difference between lunch & dinner, that I've noticed, is tiny crawfish & crab legs. Which, the crawfish aren't seasoned well. It was no true Cajun flavor, and small with little meat to eat. They don't even restock both seafood items enough, you have to wait to get it. It would be nice if they seasoned the crawfish & crab legs with cajun seasoning & spice & garlic. But, overall I do enjoy the buffet. They used to offer more ice cream options, but that has changed. I really like the different sushi options, fresh fruit, & salad bar! The staff is hard working, which is a huge plus! I do wish some tables & booths were fixed though. 3 items from the buffet that I truly miss is, chopped green onions, fried chicken strips, & chocolate syrup for ice cream. The chicken nuggets they serve now, get to dry in the warmer, on the buffet. If they put the chicken nuggets on a wire rack on the buffet, to where it could still be warmed, but not dry out, would be nice. But, I do miss the...
Read moreLots of these reviews appear to be people who are reviewing a single experience. There's no restaurant where everything is perfect all day, every day.
New China is great because they get it right most of time. Like most buffets, it's "best" when they open and are busy (about 11:00-12:30 and 6:00-7:30). It not good in mid afternoon and later in evening because of fewer customers - you can't afford to swap out that half full plan of food at 3PM; so, it slowly gets worse.
I've eaten at a lot of Chinese buffets and the reason this is one better than most is the variety is very broad and many of the recipes are very good.
One reviewer indicated the food is the same all day and that's incorrect. Lunch is less expensive because there are fewer seafood options. Dinner and weekends up the price because they add more crab and shrimp dishes to the selection.
For comments on service... you're eating at a buffet place and the only service is refilling drinks. Of dozens of meals here, 99% of the time they ask to fill your drink just as you empty the previous one. Occasionally, there might be a delay because things do get crazy busy here. Faulting a restaurant's service as a main reason for a 1 or 2 star review when you mostly serve yourself...
Read moreMy father has health issues just had a heart valve replaced and a pacemaker in and he has trouble walking, we had 4 adults and a baby, asked for a table she tried to take us all the way to the back half of the party room by the bathroom, we asked for a closer table to the buffet so my dad didn't have to walk so far they moved us to the middle section, then when we asked the hostess if we could sit at a table that was closest to the buffet near the tile, her and the manager refused to let us sit there cuz we had a high chair then tried to give us a booth and we asked for a table lots of empty tables around us, refused to let us sit anywhere but at back of section near wall, even after I explained to them about my father's health problems the manager (guy) was rude and told us to sit where they sat us or to leave, made another lady with a cane had not too long ago had a hip replacement sit in the party room after she requested a close table as well, so they moved her to the booth next to us, but they would let other folks sit where ever they asked. I think they should be more lineant with their handicapped folks and not rude. Will never return...
