This was my third visit here and I just have to upgrade my rating. A lot of barbecue under my belt since my first time here and I have to paraphrase my new friend Roll T. and say that this is probably one of the most underrated BBQ joints in the country. This is my kind of BBQ. They don't overdo anything here. They let the ingredients speak and don't overwhelm you with sweet, spicy, salty, sticky etc. The meats are complemented by their subtle seasonings and perfect smoke levels. The sides all taste like the ingredients. The baked beans taste like baked beans, not just molasses or cayenne or chile powder etc etc. This is just really solid Southern home cooking with soul. Lots of the most famous and overrated like Southern Soul in Brunswick could take some lessons here!
The ribs and pork I ordered came swimming in a beautiful jus/sauce that was a little tangy and had great balanced spice. Both were moist and tender without being mushy and overcooked with that dead pork taste you'll get with overhandled Q. I've also had Q with way too much fat, it's too rich. This has a perfect amount. After all, fat is flavor but too much is too much.
The greens are terrific. Some of the best you'll find anywhere. I like the baked beans too. Everything I've tried here is well thought out and delicious. The fried catfish is crispy, perfectly fried and never greasy.
I wish they'd take the Texas Pete off the table. It has preservatives and isn't nearly as good as Louisiana, Crystal or Tobasco. Please rethink this one and give us something that will be as good as your food!
This is real Dixie BBQ. The real deal. Skip Dreamland, come and visit Archibald...
Read moreIf I could give a zero I certainly would. Let me first say, I had no problem returning the food untouched and just getting our money back and would’ve moved on and had no problems with the restaurant, but since who I assume was the manager refused to refund our money and cussed and degraded us for requesting that I am posting this review. After spending almost $50 on two pulled pork plates and 1 order of fried green tomatoes, see the picture provided for the portion size of the sides as well as the amount of fries in my bag. They first forgot our FGT completely but after seeing the amount of fries and the pathetic portion size of the sides we went back inside to request a full refund as we hadn’t eaten any of the food yet. The lady (seemed as if she was the manager or owner) refused to refund our money because “they lose money too” and that she would just give me my tomatoes. After cussing us, yelling at us, and telling me I quote “maybe one day you will be good enough to own your own restaurant and then you can tell me how to run mine”. We finally decided to just take the food and leave. Upon eating the food, not only was it something my dog wouldn’t have enjoyed, I found a bone inside my pork that I almost ate. Opposed to the northport location, which is absolutely fantastic, this location has got to be the worst service, food, and frankly I met the worst human being I’ve met in a long time. Subpar food and DISGUSTING customer service. Please don’t go here if you want your money’s worth or if you want even an ounce of respect.
Ok, so my review of any restaurant or store will always be fair. If I could give the customer service at this location a -1 I would. Mind you this eatery has really good food. I'm not a huge rib fan but I love fish. The "lady" at the counter was sooooooo rude and hostile with everyone. Whoever made her mad for not coming into work their shift she took it out on customers. I did get a to go order. The gentleman in front got fussed out for ordering wings and fries , guess she didn't hear him and when the order came mind you even I heard him order wings and fries. His ticket didn't say it but her asked when he ordered. Even the guy from the back said hey do you want me to just give you some fries? The gentleman said don't even worry about it. Maybe her coffee she was drinking wasn't allowing her to have a good day. I was sure to not even engage with her but her whole disposition her talk was rudddddde! Now I visited the food truck at Stillman maybe two weeks ago while traveling through and the staff was pleasant but on March 1 , this encounter in this location was the worst. I won't visit a location again maybe find the food truck again if in Tuscaloosa on a game day .My grandpa always said, "It's just Nice to be Nice! Hopefully, this person on the front is not an owner or manager, cause she was rude to customers and borderline ready to fight if you questioned her. Please take my review as a perspective of a person who visited a location verses the food truck. If you eat here know that the food is delicious, customer service is important no matter how long the business...
