Crimson Tap House — Restaurant in Tuscaloosa

I honestly wish I had better things to say about the food. The Crimson Taphouse has the bones of a really great restaurant with a good atmosphere, solid service, and good drinks. The food was just disappointing. My friend ordered the Cali Bowl which was supposed to be a chef’s favorite but the rice was mush, the avocado was not ripe and tough, and the sauces did not help the flavor. Waited almost 30 minutes just to get served and we were sitting at the bar. Tons of confusion ordering food. Was told many items were unavailable then was told the opposite minutes later. Numerous tab tables and bar spots never got cleaned up when people left. Then the food did not sit well at all. Garlic cheese curds were good but don’t order the Ruben. Stomach felt ill minutes after eating. The only time we saw our server was when we ordered and then when we closed out. Wasn’t even very busy....

We arrived at the restaurant and were informed there would be a 30-minute wait for food due to the kitchen being backed up. However, after waiting an hour and 15 minutes, we received another update saying it would be another 20 minutes. Waiting nearly two hours for food is simply unacceptable. That said, our server was excellent—very attentive and apologetic throughout the experience, and she deserves credit for that.
