Being an international student, I have a huge mental block when it comes to interacting with the natives. And so, I was walking along the streets looking for a restaurant with not too many people dining inside. And that's how hooligans came into my view. I was a bit concerned about the quality of food as the place looked rundown. I quickly looked at the Google reviews and could only find positive ones. So I decided to try my luck. I wasn't sure if I should be seated in a booth and someone would come and take my order or if I should go to the counter and place my order. Luckily for me there was a sign which said I should place the order at the counter. The only item that sounded familiar to me in the menu was the burger. But the person standing behind the counter had a welcoming smile and asked me what I would like to have. I asked him for his recommendation. He recommended gyro. I asked for a gyro plate and not the roll. I felt at ease now since I felt welcomed at the place. Though I didn't like gyro as much as I thought I would (probably because of my lofty expectations), but I would definitely visit this place again just because of the friendly staff. Next time I will give the...
Read moreI made Hooligans a regular stop on my lunch break, usually multiple times a week. The food, while overpriced, is always pretty great! Today, I made my way to Hooligans for lunch, and when I arrived at the drive-thru, someone began talking through the speaker but I couldn’t understand what they were saying. I assumed it was a greeting, and began my order, when I was immediately interrupted by the cashier telling me I would need to wait a moment. This is never a problem as I’m used to waiting a significant amount of time at this restaurant, but it was said so overly aggressive with a tone of annoyance, and it became clear that I was interrupting something just by being there. Feeling like a burden, I decided to take my business elsewhere as to not continue to bother the employee or further interrupt the conversation they wanted to have with their coworkers.
Also a heads up, if you choose the drive-thru, make sure you have plenty of gas and you can add about 10-15 minutes wait time per car in front of you. This is consistently how they...
Read moreI was looking for places to eat on Google, and this restaurant popped up. It had a 4.7 starred rating with a good amount of reviews so I decided to give it a go.
Right away, as soon as I entered the building, I was met by a cold stare of one of the employees, and she seemed like she hated her job, and any customer who came in.
Secondly is the problem with the A/C. I noticed the vents were clogged with dust and dirt, and barely working. It wasn't hot in the dining area, but it wasn't comfortable for it being 100 degrees outside. Even worse, the employees seemed like they had no AC in the back as well, which really bothered me.
The food was okay, at best. Fries were overseasoned and the burger wasn't anything special. I could have went to Burger King and gotten the same taste for 5$ less.
All in all, save your money if you're expecting a great burger, but this place is an okay option to eat if you're close and don't want to drive anywhere else. Would consider visiting on a...
