Severely disappointed with Koki's...they completely ruined our Father's Day celebration tonight. My husband and I have been going to Koki's for over 7 years. The managers & cooks recognize us because we have been customers for so long. When we were seated tonight the four of us asked to sit on the corner of the table to accommodate for my 3 month old daughter since no one was sitting there. We were denied because they said there was a large group coming in later. If we would have been served in a timely manner it wouldn't have been an issue and we would have been finished by the time the large party arrived. A HOUR into our dinner the cook still hadn't come out. When he finally did come to cook our dinner there was no performance. He was rushing to cook our meals so he could move onto the next table. He put all the veggies, meats, seafood and fried rice on the grill at once...in the 7+ years we've been going there they have NEVER cooked all the food at once (nor have they at any other teppan restaurant). It was always an experience and a show, but not tonight. But it gets better...three if us ordered steamed rice and when it came out it wasn't fully cooked. The white rice was gritty and hard. The managers asked if we wanted fried rice instead because the whole batch of white rice was bad. We said ok, but it never came out. We are Asian and need rice with our meal. I waited for the fried rice to come out to eat with my meal and since it never came out my food was cold. The manager came to apologize for the wait, the cook rushing & lack of show, & the rice and said that they would do something for us since he knows we are "regulars". They offered us a measly 10% off (our bill was about $120) and 10% off the next time we come with a free appetizer (we never order appetizers). They weren't going to offer anything to the other couple that was sitting with us until they complained (I don't know if they got a discount or not). So for our 2 hour, incomplete, no show Father's Day dinner we got $12 off our bill. Not even half of one of the four combination dinners we ordered. I spoke to the manager again on my way out and they made it seem like they were doing us a favor giving us the 10%. I'm extremely disappointed. If this is how they treat their "regulars," I'd hate to see how to new customers are treated. Koki's WAS my husband's favorite place, but it doesn't look like we will...
Read moreCame here on Nov 13 & in the beginning we had a small issue where they said I didn't have a reservation when I had called them like 30mins before & they denied the whole conversation when I had proof I had called... anyways even though they gave me an attitude we still wanted to stay because we love these types of restaurants & at the end they were able to accommodate us (even though I heard while I was there 2 other families had problems, they said they were under staffed but completely book, maybe they shouldn't completely book if they're understaffed & keep the tables to a minimum because all the tables were full & some staff seemed overwhelmed). The 4 stars is for the overall experience of the show, server & cook were completely nice & the food was AMAZING & TASTY & made your mouth watery as the cook made the food in front of us! My husband, daughter, neice & myself loved it! I recommend you make a reservation a head of time & give them your name & number & get the persons name you talked to so no issues occur & still expect to wait a little while after you check in, which we didn't mind. For us 4 we paid around 180 with tip, plus we tipped the cook separately. Yummy food though! couldn't upload video to show part of the...
Read moreHORRIBLE! Unfortunately I didn't learn my lesson the first time I ate here, but service, food quality, and management is a disaster. I was here for a birthday party, and the staff was definitely not equipped to handle larger groups. They could not figure out how to split a check, so they decided to bundle everyone in the group in to sections. The cook was very unprofessional, unexperienced, and did not even know how to build a onion volcano on the cooktop. When serving our food, they gave the majority of what you ordered to other people who did not even order the food. The attitude from the staff was disgustingly rude. When mentioned to them in a polite manner, I was snubbed off and treated with a 'that's how we do it here' response. On top of it, they add a 20% gratuity for this amazing experience for parties. Haven't experienced a mandatory 20% gratuity ever, but some was to be expected.
All in all, I hope if you are looking for a fun, enjoyable, delicious Teppan experience you DO NOT EAT HERE! Go to Benihanas and be happy you at least get what...
