China Palace is the very best Chinese Restaurant in Orange County. I've been going there to eat and take-out food since the late 1970's. All through these decades, their quality of food served has been consistently excellent in taste, texture, and appealing to the eyes. In addition, they have the largest variety of items to choose from on their Menu that cover the flavors and styles of different regions in China such as: Mongolian, Mandarin; etc. Over the years, my husband and I have brought visiting friends that have traveled to many places in the world to China Palace, and each time they loved the food as well as the service plus the atmosphere. Never has anyone of our guests complained about this restaurant. And, even we went there on Christmas Eve a few times which are now wonderful, cherished memories. Unfortunately, I've grown old and disabled to the point that I had to move last year, 2019, into a senior living facility which is far away in North Orange County. Also, this place where I live has been on lockdown ever since mid-March, and who knows when it's going to end in O.C. this I can't travel to Tustin plus I'm located in far for them to deliver to. What a...
Read moreI'm Chinese and was shocked at how awful the food was. In general especially in Orange County, chinese food is decent in most places as there are so many options so it's competitive. The cashew chicken was greasy and didn't have sufficient sauce. The only good thing about the dish was the chicken was not overcooked. There were insufficient vegetables in the dish. The rice was short/medium grain and a little overcooked. The combination lo mein was meh which was a recommendation by the waiter, the better option between their noodle dishes. The food is very expensive. When I asked the waitress what type of Chinese food they served eg. Cantonese, szechuan, northern etc, she tried to tell me it was palace food lol! China Palace tries to be a fancy chinese restaurant but it's dated. The dinner plates had visible fingerprints on it and I had to ask for chopsticks, which were cheap takeout ones wrapped in paper. Panda express is tastier at a fraction of the price. And I generally avoid Panda Express. I'm from out of town and arrived on the metrolink after 3+ hours starving hangry and just went by aggregate google reviews and didn't bother reading...
Read moreI haven't had Chinese food in years. I just didn't feel like eating it. I'm pregnant and had a craving for honey walnut shrimp. I discovered this spot on Google Maps and ordered lunch to-go in person.
The host gave great service, told me it would be done in 10 minutes, wow! I was starving. Before I left with my food, the same host gave a homeless man some water, which I thought was very kind.
I sampled the food in my car before driving off. I was pleasantly surprised to see one fried wonton and one egg roll, even though I asked for fried wonton. Well, the egg roll was 100% better than the fried wonton, and it was super fresh, crispy and delicious.
I got their lunch special with honey walnut shrimp, egg flower soup (also good), and egg fried rice, and ordered an appetizer of their foiled chicken.
The honey walnut shrimp was exactly what I was looking for. It wasn't too sweet, it was super freshly made, and had that yummy crunch from being fried, and juicy. I love it! Definitely would come back again for the honey walnut shrimp lunch deal.
Now curious about the...
