PJ’s brings a little bit of New Orleans to Tyler…for me that’s a really good thing. The first thing is that they are the only place that I know that has chicory coffee. Maybe you’ve had Cafe Du Monde chicory coffee from the mustard yellow can or maybe you’ve been to the café in New Orleans. Anyway, once you taste the chicory in the coffee, you’ll know if it appeals to you…if it does, this is THE place to get it locally.
The other thing is that great New Orleans taste treat called Beignets; they are available in an order of three, six, or twelve. If you’ve never had them imagine something like a funnel cake made as a pillow shape. That’s not a terrific analogy because the texture is different both on the golden-brown fried exterior and also inside these pillow-shaped pastries. I think these things are fantastic and I think the coffee is fantastic. Do you know what isn’t fantastic? Serving these in paper boats and coffee in wax paper cups. I know it’s a fast food thing, but when it comes to experiencing an extraordinary treat, it just feels like drinking champagne straight out of a bottle. I would much prefer ceramic wear –– and I would be willing to pay extra for it. But it is what it is. Anyway, I highly...

The service was off but I think it may have been due to being short handed but it did take a minute to get my order, but it was well worth the wait. I had their King Cake Latte and a small sandwich to go. Very tasty and very refreshing!...
Read moreRun, don't walk to PJ's. I ordered the King Cake Latte, a croissant, and the beignets. Everything was great! The croissant was so flaky, warm, and buttery. The coffee was hot, strong, and so delicious, but the show stopper are the beignets. They are AMAZING. They have a large menu, and I will...
