BBQ isn't cheap these days (was it ever? I dunno). But if the BBQ is good, the price is worth it.
I visited Spring Creek Barbeque at 6pm on a Wednesday. They weren't super busy, which is a shame, because the BBQ was on point. But first, I want to talk about the people--everyone was super friendly, served with a smile, and happily helped me out when I needed to find the silverware or a bottle opener for my beer.
I had the 3-meat plate: St. Louis style ribs, black pepper sausage, and brisket. I paired that with pinto beans and mac and cheese with banana pudding for dessert.
The brisket was amazing. Melt-in-your-mouth tender, with just a bit of fat on it, like a brisket should. Each bite had a wonderfully smokey flavor, and I would have been satisfied with just having this. That said, the black pepper sausage is also out of this world. It's hands-down better than standard BBQ sausage, with a ton of peppery goodness in every bite. The St. Louis style ribs were fat, meaty, juicy, and fell right off the bone. All of these were so tasty, I ate a good portion of them without even using barbecue sauce. I didn't want to cover up the flavor of all that delicious meat!
The sides were perfectly acceptable. I'm not a big mac and cheese fan in general, but theirs was as good as any I've had at any BBQ place. It's not Kraft or Velveeta from a box, which gave it points in my book. The beans were tasty, if not overly spiced. A bit of Tabasco would have hit the spot. The dinner roll had a nice firm top crust with a fluffy and soft interior. I was offered another partway through my meal, but I was already having trouble finishing everything in front of me. I ended up leaving some of the dessert and sides, but there was no way I was going to leave a scrap of that delicious meat on my plate.
The banana pudding tasted like Jello brand banana pudding with Nilla wafers. And that's not a complaint--it reminded of my mom's, which gave me big comfort-food vibes.
I've eaten here (and been very happy) many times, but usually via delivery. I haven't been inside in a while, so I took this opportunity to whip out my camera...
Read moreWe don't really go here often at all. Maybe 2x since we have lived here for past 25 yrs. We have our "go too places" we rotate to. Figured we would try something different and BBQ sounded good tonight. Should have known when we pulled up and parking lot was empty. Only 2 other vechile's in parking lot. It was 5:20 so just figured, heck it's early so let's just go in and see. Walked up and my second clue that this was not the place was the prices. $18.95 for one plate! You got 2or 3 meats and 2 sides. Chose Mac and cheese, beans, brisket and sausage. Everything tasted like last week's leftovers. Mac had no flavor, it was dry not creamy and was room temperature cool. Beans no flavor and just tasted old. Those didn't even get eaten. Brisket was not warm, it was very dry. Sausage extremely dry. Definitely not fresh. All should have been being it was 5:20 when we got there. The rolls were hard. We were offered some "fresh" rolls. Those were hard and not fresh at all either.
Should have complained to the manager. It was that bad.
We will definitely NOT be back at this place. Definitely don't recommend it all.
One the food was awful. And for the extremely high price you pay not worth it for the ammount or quality of the food.
You can go TX Roadhouse and get a 12oz Ribeye Steak, side and house salad for the same price as Spring Creek Leftovers, and old bread.
Do yourself a favor pass right on by this place....
Read moreFirst visit ever. 2 Adults & 2 kids, $40. Very clean & organized. Friendly service. Baked potatoes are pretty big, which was really good. Brisket sandwiches with the BBQ sauce added onto them was so amazing!!! And I gotta add- the BBQ sauce here is very rich, thick & seasoned. Unlike most BBQ places where the BBQ sauce is just thin & runny. I have so much respect for the BBQ sauce here- I wish we could order it by the bottle!!! It really made my sandwich AMAZING!!! As for the sides, we were not impressed. Unfortunately there were only a few sides to pick from, none of which were impressive. The corn on the cob was very plain, not flavored at all. Highly disappointed. And there was a friendly girl who came to our table a few times offering fresh hot bread. We accepted the first time, but refused all the other times. The bread, just like the corn, was very plain, no flavor at all. Next time I come, I plan to order 2 brisket sandwiches with a couple cups of BBQ sauce. Forget the sides & forget the complimentary bread. I just fell in love with the BBQ sauce!!! I'll be back for more sandwiches!!! UPDATE:: My 2nd visit was not as favorable. They guy cut the meat for my brisket sandwich way too thick. Then it had the black stuff on my meat like the burnt outside part, & I just hate that part. I may or may...
