Golden Corral Buffet & Grill — Restaurant in Tyler

This was my family's first time at this particular location. I been to Golden Corral's all over the United States and some are good and some are bad.

Tyler's location is definitely bad. We got there about 1:30 so just as the lunch rush was ending. We got drinks, paid the cashier and went to find a table. That's when the problem began, Literally every table as soon as you walked in all the way towards the back were cluttered with dirty dishes. It was absolutely disgusting and not what you wanted to see when you first walked into a restaurant.

We ended up walking more towards the end of the restaurant and saw a six top table. Knowing that a lot of big families or groups come to GC we did not want to take up any needless extra space. I saw the waitress behind me and went to ask her if she could clean up a booth so that we could have a smaller table. I said excuse me and before I could even say another word this rude waitress screamed at me that she was busy and didn't have time for me. Huge negative impact from your staff. Obviously she wasn't doing a very good job because as I said the majority of the tables were littered with dirty dishes. The floors were absolutely disgusting and had not been clean for quite a while. Two other customers at two different tables were shocked at her reaction and were appalled that she even had the nerve to scream at a paying customer. They said they had been there for an hour at least and this staff member hadn't cleaned off any of the tables or cleaned the floor since they had been there.

Regardless of this interaction with this staff remember we decided to enjoy our meals together. The staff member continuously came to annoy me to make up for her screaming at me. She kept stopping by the table asking if everything was okay and I finally had to tell her to just go away and leave us alone. Like literally every time I put food in my mouth here she wanted to know if everything was fine. No everything was not fine, You ruined my perfectly happy day! The moment you screamed at me.

Now as far as the food go, this is probably one of the worst GC's I have been to. The staff here. Didn't really care to keep the food areas stocked. They also do not have as many options as I've seen in other GC's. And they did not even have an open grill area which made me sad because that is the main reason why I love going to GC.

Upon leaving I did speak with a manager to tell him about the rude staff member who screamed at me. The manager basically said I was lying because in his words "he couldn't believe that she was so rude because she was always so sweet and smiling". My husband asked the manager if there was Corned Beef and Cabbage since it is St. Patrick's Day, he said yes. There wasn't! The waitress never come over to us to greet us. Never gave us the free biscuits and butter! Drinks empty never offered to refill them. We had to ask her. We both asked for refill said no ice. She returned with one drink with ice. I said no ice. She replied with an attitude and pointing on the ice in the drink almost touching the drink there is ice before I could finish. We both asked for no ice. Finally, I had to yell we both wanted no ice. She came back with one drink. My husband and I said we both wanted one with no ice. She said with an attitude he never said he wanted one with an attitude. We both said yes he did. She pointed her finger at me yelling at me to stop yelling at her. Since she didn't introduce herself to us I don't have her name. We asked for a manager which she never went and got. I have been a waitress before as well as a manager in the food industry. Very terrible service and attitude. When I had a difficult customer I would go and get the manager to help deal with said customer. THE BEST PART OF THE EXPERIENCE WAS THE GRILL COOK! THE MANAGER KEPT TRYING TO GIVE US WELL DONE STEAK WHEN WE ASKED FOR MEDIUM RARE. HE EVEN TOLD THE MANAGER WHAT TYPE OF STEAK WE WANTED AND WAS COOKING SOME FRESH FOR US. HE MADE SURE OUR STEAKS WERE MEDIUM RARE! MY HUSBAND EVEN TIPPED HIM FOR DOING A GREAT JOB! I MIGHT GO BACK IF JORGE IS WORKING!! HE IS AN AWESOME WAITER! For me buffets are hit and miss. They can be good or not and this was not for me. I have heard for some friends it was good but it was not for me. First off let me say that the place was clean and the bathrooms we're clean too. I tired a little bit of everything I could eat and most of the food was mediocre. One example was the Mac and cheese now I stay away from carbs at buffets but I love Mac and cheese but this tasted nasty. It was very watery and there was hardly any cheese taste. I think I like only two things there which was there cheeseburger without the bread and their pulled pork. I got there at breakfast time and it was not crowded but once 11 am came people came and 2 school bus with kids came before I left. I don't think golden corral is going change because people are still going and eating lame food. The pictures I put are some food items the serve. Oh I forgot the servers ask if you want rolls which is strange but I know why they do it. Now that I went there I won't go back. UPDATE! If you have a disability like autism be sure to tell them and make sure they accommodate you from your disability because they didn't do it to me and the manager on duty said it was more important that a group get a quiet spot then me. Of course I was just about done with eating but still management could of said something. You do not have to tell them your disability just make sure you get treated right and have happen to you happen to me.
