Chikin Drip — Restaurant in Union City

Chikin Drip in Union City serves chicken strips and sandwiches with different levels of heat. I ordered Combo #1, which came with a chicken sandwich and seasoned crinkle-cut fries. The fries were nice and crunchy, but even though they had seasoning on them, I couldn’t taste much flavor from it.

I got the medium heat chicken sandwich, and I have to say the spice level was much milder than I expected—very little heat to my palate. The chicken itself was juicy, but it lacked some flavor overall. The sauce was okay, not as bold as other chicken spots it was more mayonnaise flavor than anything else, and the seasoning was different than what I’m used to but still decent. One thing I definitely missed was the pickles—my sandwich didn’t have any, and I really missed that extra crunch and tang that usually brings the whole sandwich together.

If I compare this place to Dave’s Hot Chicken, Dave’s is a clear winner when it comes to heat levels, seasoning, and sauce flavor. This location has opened in Union City, which is the closest so far from my home. I went to the one in San Jose close to the airport and haven’t been there for a while. When I arrived, they have its drive thru, but it’s closed until next week. Honestly, I support this because it brings less traffic inside the lobby, but even without it, there wasn’t gonna be many people until I arrived during peak hours. This is also my first time seeing a drive thru in this kinda restaurant. Perhaps, I should order through that next time I come by.

Just like other Nashville-style chicken restaurant I believe, they have like really aesthetic and colorful designs inside the restaurant. If you go to restaurants like this, you’ll know what I’m talking about. Really brings the vibes of Bay Area due to its multiculturalism.

I like the food here since portion size is right and that I wasn’t too full after finishing the combo (maybe because I didn’t get 2 sliders). I usually like slider and tender since it’s different of how the chicken is eaten and tasted. Usually get mild (not “no spice” due to lack of taste and medium or spicier because I can’t tolerate that...

The drive thru as of yesterday 09/28/2025 is not operational. The polite and swift service from the lady upfront was awesome. I only had to wait 5 minutes for my food so that was also great.

The food, mostly the chicken itself, lacked flavor. I think they need to put more salt in the seasoning and marinate the chicken so there's flavor when you bite into the chicken. I ordered the Mac bowl, the chicken was also a bit dry so it might have been left in the frier a bit too long. The Mac and cheese in the mac bowl was good. And the fries are also really good. Angry Chickz and Daves Hot Chicken so far are the better Nashville hot chicken options, but that isnt to say that this place doesn't...
