My wife and I first stayed at the Union City Hampton Inn in November 2024. Because we enjoyed our stay, we decided on a repeat visit in August 2025.
This hotel is exceptionally clean and very well kept. The proximity to Union Landing allows guests to have easy access to most amenities. We walked there, on numerous occasions, and we found the neighbourhood to be really safe.
Our room was spacious and comfortable. The complimentary shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap and lotion were all appreciated. It makes travelling so much easier when you know that you don't have to pack these items.
The hotel manager is approachable and he is very pleasant to deal with. All of the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. They are professional in all aspects of their jobs. They don't hesitate to help you with any concerns that you might have and they readily answer all of your questions. Yazmin, at the front desk, was particularly helpful when we asked for assistance in figuring out how to get to places in San Francisco. She gave us good advice and we would have been lost without her help.
The dining area is so cozy and inviting. The complimentary breakfast is amazing. The Hampton has thought of everything and has provided breakfast items to meet most needs. From waffles to oatmeal to hot breakfast food, they've got you covered. Our favourite is the Sparkling Strawberry Waffles. We were intrigued at how they actually sparkled. We enjoyed interacting with Yecenia. She works hard to ensure that guests enjoy their breakfast. She is cheerful and friendly. We looked forward to seeing her smiling face on the days that she was working.
Having access to complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate is an added bonus. It is a nice way to unwind and relax at the end of the day.
We were thankful for the complimentary granola bars and water bottles. We were able to take them along, on day trips, which made those experiences even better.
The mini convenience store, adjacent to the front desk, is a good place to buy snacks, beverages and incidentals.
The Hampton Inn was definitely our "home away from home" during our time in Union City. Thank you to everyone for making us feel so welcome. We look forward to our next...
Read moreStayed here a week in July/August 2025. Unusually cool for this time of year. Good stay overall. Took showers around 7:30/8am each morning. Most showers were lukewarm at best. Shower head built for basketball players (very high). My room was missing the ice bucket; my mirror had some damage on its frame; my curtain had holes in it; my friends room had an office chair whose armrest cushion was torn up; friends room had stain on lounge chair cushion. My AC worked fine and was controlled at the unit; my friends had a wall control. Towels thick, washcloths on the thin side. Breakfasts rotated between scrambled eggs and omelettes; sausage patties or large links cut up; fried potatoes or French toast sticks. And the usual other offerings each day of oatmeal, waffles (2 batters, large pour syrups, toppings), cereal (granola offering was new to me, seemed popular), cut fruit, yogurt, eggs, bagels and pastries. Breakfast area open 6-10, closed off rest of the day. Coffee and hot water for tea or hot chocolate available 24 hours. Too much competition between music and TV in breakfast area. Hotel located right behind Union Landing shopping center, easy to walk to; Cinemark Theater is closest building. Front desk staff on the young side; I don’t think I saw anyone there that looked to me over 30. They were responsive when we needed things. Housekeeping is on demand. Biggest gripe was lack of parking spots. Shared lot with Holiday Inn, but the spaces near the hotel were almost nonexistent. Many drivers parked outside of designated spaces, parked in the covered area near the entrance, and even parked along red painted fire lanes. Multiple signs posted tell you that you park at your own risk. I always brought in my belongings from the car, didn’t have a problem. If you arrive at the hotel after 8pm you risk not getting a close spot. I never parked far from the building so I don’t know how full the Holiday Inn distant lot got. Not sure if EV, accessible or special member spot parking signs are monitored or enforced. I’d probably stay here again if...
Read moreI was in bed and in need of water because I wasn't feeling well. I called the front desk asking for someone to please bring me a complimentary water. The man who answered told me he didn't have anyone to bring it and he couldn't leave the front desk. He advised I get out of bed and come get it myself. I was shocked he didn't offer to bring it given the circumstances and I seriously have doubts he was the only worker in the entire hotel. I forced myself out of bed and made my way downstairs only to see several workers prepping for breakfast across form the front desk. I asked the gentlemen again why he could not bring me a water after seeing other workers were present. He said "We usually don't do that." I informed I was not happy with those responses as a paying Hilton Honors customer and called customer service. Customer service was not helpful either. I asked for a customer service manager who essentially supported the poor customer service. I asked if I needed towels, would they make me come downstairs to get those too? She avoided answering the question so I put her on speaker, called the front desk and asked the gentlemen the same question so she could hear. He told me he could bring me towels. So I asked, you can bring me towels and not complimentary waters?? Makes no sense. The customer service manager then says, "Well sir you don't need towels." I explained I actually did need more towels and told the front desk to please bring the towels. They never brought the towels either. After waiting 20-30 minutes for the towels...I packed up and left early than what I needed to. Extremely frustrating, horrible experience & very poor customer service across the board. I will never stay at that hotel again.
Review Update - 07/30/25: Management contacted me about this incident and were very sorry for their employees actions. They have used this as a training opportunity for the individuals involved and I was compensated for the bad experience. All is fair now. Thank you for making this right. Changing from...
