***Update*** I came back and ordered the plate I originally wanted. I will tell you that I was greeted with kindness as I walked in the door. Felt like family. Water took seconds to get refilled, and the food was wonderfully tasteful. The pork chop had such great taste I was happy. I was hungry but had to rewrite this review, because the food was so tasty. I applaud the cook on his cooking. I had an amazing experience here and I recommend this place. Your taste buds will thank you! ----------------------------------------------- It would have been 5 stars but cheese was melted and they didn't have a plate I wanted that was on the front window. The food was good, but I'm usually upbeat. I'd say it's still a good restaurant to eat at, but the vibe can be changed to enhance my experience here. All in all if your hungry and can't find somewhere else to eat, this place is a decent place to consider. I couldn't find anything around the area so that's why I popped up here. Let me know what you guys think if you try it.

We were in the area with friends for an event. Our kids got hungry and we decided to try this place out for a quick breakfast. We were all very impressed! This is a no frills, home cooking restaurant with generous portions of delicious food served with a smile! The chips and salsa served were delicious with crispy, puffy chips, a salsa that had more complex flavor than tomato and salt, and they trialed a new creamier salsa that was beyond amazing! The Mexican chilaquiles were amazing with the eggs cooked perfectly, and the various salsas served had layers of flavor. My son got a bacon and egg breakfast taco and the bacon was thick cut, and cooked perfectly. We will be back to try other menu items!

Looks like an ownership change since my last visit; maybe not for the better. When the front door is open, you are looking into a storage area; definitely NOT an inviting sight. I ordered the Chillequiles breakfast plate. Unsure if it was the clay plateware or the food, but there was an 'unfresh' smell coming from the dish. The potatoes looked a day or so old and tasted unpalatable, so most stayed on the plate. The chips used tasted stale in taste and texture. I opted for the corn tortillas, which again seemed to have been in-house for quite a while, almost a rancid smell. The coffee and water weren't too bad.

what a shame walk in here people where’s so friendly but ended up not so good make sure you ask if the food is identical to what the picture is because they don’t match. They gave us menudo to try it was water down thinking we could maybe fix it with lime jalapeño or onions mistake still taste bad brother food came and didn’t look like the picture chilaquiles doesn’t look like the chilaquiles son migas con queso we told the lady and she just said sorry this is our chilaquiles well doesn’t match with the pictures after that it went downhill ask for coffee and only refill 2 of the 3 coffees we had to go up to ask for the check given to the manager they kept asking us how we wanted the chilaquiles we expected the food in the picture it upsetting. they treat us that wrong the hype wasn’t all there ended up sick to the stomach and to top that off heard one of the ladies tell them they just had bought the place. reviews might be from before

in response to the owner’s comment, i will GLADLY take my money elsewhere, 25 dollars down the drain for inedible food, ended up having to go eat elsewhere anyway. 3 years ago this place been bought out definitely should have updated menus to...

What an absolutely wasted year and a half honestly nothing more can be said about the time that has gone by eating wannabe Mexican food creations each and every time we have had to close our eyes and remember the good old days in California devouring absolutely amazing authentic Mexican creations that make your eyes tear from the absolute near perfection of Mexican foods that follow traditional specialty as they should be. Los Arcos in Universal City Texas does just that and some. From the first bite we knew that the wait was over , finally true traditional Mexican and the first in Texas. They advertised as true Traditional Mexican and let me be the first to proclaim yes it is. Absolute in classic style Mexican. Just as we stated to our server and staff we can’t wait to return the first chance we get. Refried beans with no explanation nor introduction creamy and delicious. Cheese enchilada inside and out oh so close to the recipe my mom would arrive to PTA meetings late but the crowd would line up to get them while they were still hot and amazing. Excuse me while I rinse off from the one way hour drive to return before they close because a...

Located slightly off Pat Booker Road along a quasi-street in the middle of a strip mall lies Los Arcos, one of the better Mexican restaurants I've experienced in Universal City.

The Mexican plate I tried was good, but nothing too overwhelmingly exceptional, with an enchilada, tostada, and puffy taco. Props are given to the puffy taco, which was excellently fried and even maintained thorough crispiness despite me ordering it for takeout. They did well in keeping the meat dry and insulating the taco from the rest of the meal via tin foil.

Because they were only a few bucks extra, I ordered a torta with seasoned pork. I was surprised at just how large this sandwich was, with large amounts of spicy tender (but not marinated) pork butt, along with avocado, tomato, and lettuce. The roll was buttered and placed on the flat top for a few minutes, making it slightly toasted. Between the plate lunch and the torta I had way too much food, and I found myself willing to let the plate go to waste. The torta, on the other hand, was going in my belly.

For me, Los Arcos, along with Taco Guadalajara, are the front runners for the best Mexican food in...
