This place is such a catch 22 that it's not even funny. To start off with the positive they do have good burgers and sides. It's not the most impressive thing ever but it definitely exceeded most local burger joints. I got their Gateway burger (a southwest burger) and it was pretty good. I also got a side of onion rings which were decent, a little too greasy for me personally. I will say I'm not a big fan of the alle carte system they have in place, my burger being 12 bucks should come with a side automatically. The atmosphere also was nice, I'm a big fan of the city vibes and if you sit outside you will definitely feel it. Now moving on to my biggest negative, the service. This place shows that while you may have good food it doesn't mean your restaurant is good. We had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated which is fine, I have decent patience. My problem is when I'm seated I shouldn't have to wait about 20 minutes just to get water. Note I was here on Saturday and they did appear to be understaffed but I shouldn't see groups bigger than me getting sat, getting their order and drinks all before me. After the 20ish minute wait for drinks we had about another 10 minute wait to then get our order taken. By this point the place had actually already closed and for reference we had about 2 hours till close by the time we originally got there. Any ways we get our order taken and waited a normal wait for food but when we got our order, the waitress was giving us part of someone else's order, and I understand mistakes happen but that same person had made that mistake for almost everyone around us. Eventually we had our meal and it was good as already talked about. We paid the bill and that's when I could tell the staff was just overwhelmed with everything. She had forgotten my dad's beer and had apologized for the way everything had been and mentioned how the art fair they had going on down the street brought a lot of unforseen attention. I feel bad leaving such a low review because I'm sure they are a good place with a decent staff but a lot of the issues experienced shouldn't have even happened. So my recommendation is to not come Saturday night, this place gets packed and you're bound to not have a...
Read moreI parked on the back side of the building and walk through this lovely gangway with tables and chairs. The outside patio is definitely a lovely outside experience. The lighting, right next to the road, and overall comfortable seating. Inside is decorated with these lovely stars, and I must say they're lemonade is delicious. I will say that they only make so much lemonade, when they're out they seem to be out. I think I had three or four glasses of lemonade before they seem to cut me off. But it was very delicious. The burgers are pretty good size, and the flavor on them is very nice. They're five star burger seems to be the standard. I also tried their gateway burger. Which is also very good with their onion rings. The french fries are pretty good. Wish they were a little bit crispier but overall nice. Finally their Korean chicken that I took home. Definitely has some heat. It has a really good flavor to it. The heat is just a little high. I do enjoy spicy food. As long as the flavor matches the spice. I think they could turn down the spice a little bit. The flavor on it is wonderful. But unfortunately the spice is a little overpowering for what it is. I do love spicy foods like curry. So I'm definitely not a stranger to spicy foods. I just found this one's flavor to spice ratio was off. My suggestion would be have them turn down the spice I would say 35%. And leave the flavor where it is. If you do decide to get this chicken and there's no way for them to turn down the spice. I would suggest getting a side of ranch, the chicken was actually really enjoyable dipping it in some ranch sauce. The spiciness was muffled by the ranch and the other flavors of the chicken accented well with the ranch dressing. Overall a very nice little restaurant. Definitely a good place for...

Does 5 Star live up to their name? Do they really dish 5 Star burgers? Yes, yes they do.
Heading down to St. Louis for the day to see Coheed & Cambria with a friend, we needed to stop and get some food. With plenty of places to eat in St. Louis, we picked out 5 Stars Burgers since it was moderately close with great reviews. With it being around noon when we arrived, there was still plenty of street parking! There was even shaded curbside parking around the corner.
5 Star is pretty nice inside. They have a bar off to the side and plenty of seating for a moderate-sized lunch crowd. Our waitress was super friendly and gave us a great greeting and gave us some history of the place. They source all of their food locally, which is great. Because of that, they can cook their burgers to however you like.
We both got The Gateway burger. I ordered mine medium. It’s one of the few places I have been that lets you order your burger cooked the way you want. It was delicious! It was juicy, full of flavor, pink all the way through and the bun was super soft. Easily top 10 burger places for me.
Also, they serve their fries in a small deep-fry basket. It’s the coolest fry holder I have ever seen! There are a few photos of it below, if you want to see what it looks like.
Overall, a stellar burger place. It was a nice pit stop in a long day of being in St. Louis. The area is pretty nice as well. You could easily park your car and explore all the area for a few hours. Just make sure you have change...
