I think I finally found my sushi fix! I was impressed by the sushi, considering that Missouri is a land-locked state. It was still not as good as sushi you'd find on a coastal state, but it's not really fair to compare it to those locations. All thinks considered, this is a great place to go for a sushi buffet.
My experience at this Clayton location was a hundred times better than at the Downtown/Olive Street location. The only downside is that the atmosphere was extremely loud. We came on a Saturday night which is a very busy time. Despite the chaos, waiters were very organized and attentive to whenever we needed anything or to when we were ready to place another order.
I love how the only catch was that you have to pay for leftovers! No time limit, no limit on nigiri, and fast service! We got our orders within 10 mins after placing them it seemed like. It was fast paced, allowing us to efficiently stuff our faces with sushi.
The more people you have the better because you can try more things that way! The salmon nigiri wasn't as good as what I'm used to, but the squid nigiri was yummy. The Crazy spicy crab roll and Boston roll were so good that we reordered them on our second round.
I will definitely be coming back! But probably on a quieter...
Read moreWe have been several times before but we were unsure of when the lunch all you can eat vs when the dinner was. We called up before coming because we wanted the lunch, not the dinner. On the phone we were told that they were having lunch and then switching to dinner a few hours later. We told them we would be there in 10minutes and thanked them for the info. Upon getting there 10 minutes later, we were seated and pulled out the lunch menus to look at our options and started marking them while waiting for our waitress. She came over to us and told us that they are only doing dinner so we can only get the dinner option. I told her that we called specifically right before coming to clarify lunch was an option so we didn’t waste a trip and her response was “oh well we have some new people training here”. We understand mistakes happen, but it was extremely disappointing wasting a trip and making the effort to call beforehand to ensure we knew what we were getting ourselves into. It was disappointing the information we were told was not honored and we ended up having to pay way more than expected. This situation really left a bad taste in my mouth as I haven't felt comfortable coming back in the...
Read moreUpdate: The smell is perhaps due to the cigar shop they share a front door with. Personally, I find this unbearable. And I smoke.
I'm sorry but I have to post this, it is an honest review. Yes its cheap sushi. Yes they try. But seriously, this Clayton location smells aweful. They have an obvious sanitation issue, and need to focus on removing the smell. I would not have returned due to only this, but I was sad to also find they had impossibly aweful service. I was a lone diner and was ignored as a group was sat down in front of me and immediately served within 30 seconds, while I had sat there twittling my thumbs a long time before the others even arrived. My order was ready, on their fill-in card, and I was completely ignored as waters were brought and orders taken right in front of me. Incredibly rude and greedy, if stereotyping for tips is what happened. I found they didn't have a manager on duty, noone in charge. I find that discerning. They've lost my respect, through showing me a lack of respect and functionality. Its, whatevs, but don't be surprised if you have a...
