Daaaaaaaaaang... where do I begin? Amazing everything; ambience, music, staff, drinks, food...
It is a very unassuming restaurant in an assuming area.
The shopping center is nice and clean, but, truly, we came in hoping it would be as good as the reviews claimed. I will concur- this place is simply fantastic!!!
Firstly, we saw there was a burrata salad. We asked Danny, who was helping us if we can turn the sald into an appetizer and before I could finish my sentence he said they would make anything we wanted! If that isn’t superb service...
Now, the burrata comes and good Lord... the fresh mozzarella garnished with chimchurri, arugula sprinkled with olive oil, lightly roasted cherry tomato’s and bruschetta- freakin amazing!
We then ordered the sliders, crab cakes and pizza ( with the meats and veggies). One at a time, we consumed.
The sliders were some of the best burgers, period. So savory, flavorful, juicy, and garnished to perfection. You will not go wrong.
We love seafood and are very picky with seafood. The crab cakes were de-licious! Again, the quality freshness, and flavor of the ingredients wereoutstanding.
The pizza was rich with flavor.....again awesome.
nooooooow, the entire was spectacular. The braised short rib was tender to perfection. It melted in our mouth, the pairing of it with cous cous, grapes, garnish, and marscapone was enough to keep us salivating for more...
The quinoa salad-light, fresh, delicious.
Tangerine dream, mojito, and strawberry daiquiri——perfection. They make all drinks with fresh juices, no cocktail mixes. They will also make whatever you want, even if not listed!
Dessert: sweet cream pudding with cookie crumb and fresh raspberries and blackberry was Devine. It was reminiscent of a creme brûlée less the sugar topping.
We are fans now and will be back to try out their breakfast/brunch. We eat at very high end and low end restaurants (and, everything in between). This felt like such a very, very high end meal without the very high end price tag. Fantastic service and...
Read moreAbove average taste with an extended wait and poor customer service. Some of their dishes are delicious, while others fall short of expectations. For example, the ceviche was solid—8/10—but their pizza was about 6/10 at best. Overall, though, most dishes were solid 8/10, and that's pretty good for a restaurant in Claremont (as opposed to LA). However, the hallmark of this restaurant is the slow-paced and incompetent staff. First, no matter the time of day, it takes forever for them to bring food, even if the restaurant isn’t that busy. When my party dined here for a late lunch, the restaurant was about 60% full, but it still took over 30 minutes to get our dishes after we were seated. So, only come here if you have a ton of time to kill.
Another issue is the staff. While some employees (the owner, for example) seem to know what they’re doing, others—well, not so much. One of the female workers couldn’t handle a simple reservation change request on phone call and had to report to two different employees to figure it out. What should have been a quick 5-minute phone call turned into a 15-minute ordeal with three different staff members involved. The same female employee continued to show her lack of competency in person when we arrived, leaving us hanging without a table until I had to ask her boss to get us seated.
So, next time I come here (though I doubt there will be a next time), I really hope they work on improving staffing and management, because I still see some...
Read moreI used to love coming here for occasions, for brunch, a special alone time meal at the bar or just drinks. Like many popular restaurants this place has gotten greedy in their pricing and cheap on their service. It's unfortunate. Sunday brunch was ruined when they forgot about us after putting us into their fancy iPad for about an hour and five minutes. They only remembered when I walked back inside looking annoyed and suddenly they made an added table available (cleaned by the hostess) and left very damp with no place settings. The waiter was trying to keep up by getting our drink and food orders quickly but brought me a tasteless watery Bloody Mary right away with no bacon wrapped date. I had no silverware to stir the drink to see if it would help and he just abandoned us for nearly another 40 minutes. Unacceptable. I left my watery beverage and took my friend next door to Juancho's where we were promptly welcomed, seated and served within minutes. I'm bummed about this place getting too big for its britches but not surprised. It's been showing signs of heading this way for a while. Sometimes doing well can really ruin a place's attention to detail and make them a little...
