La Loma Columbus — Restaurant in Upper Arlington

Met friends for happy hour. The best thing I can say about the place is the food presentation was spot on compared to the beautiful pictures in the menu. Ordered cheese only nachos which were fine, with a side of Mexican rice, also good, but the side of beans were awful. No substance at all - very runny and flavorless. Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri which OK, but as much as an alcohol daiquiri at other places. There was a serious language barrier with our waitress regarding the drink and again when I asked about a steak quesadilla to take home to my son. She asked if I wanted to place the order and I told her I would order in 10 or 15 minutes. Not even 10 minutes later she brought me the order all bagged up. By the time I paid, got refunded because she charged me for meat nachos instead of cheese only, paid again, and drove home the quesadilla was not very appealing. It was actually disgustingly greasy although several paper towels helped. Plus it was ground beef instead of steak. Not a good...

I got the enchiladas, one beef, one chicken, and one cheese. This was take out. It was packaged up really nice, and typically you don’t get a decent presentation. This looked nice. It’s a little of food. The portions are generous. Usually when you get enchiladas, the meat is dry. Not in this case. The ground beef was juicy but not greasy, and the chunks of chicken were flavorful. The red sauce is pretty good - I don’t have anything to compare it to. What’s unique about this place is their salsa. It’s not heavy with cilantro, and it has a little chipotle in adobo sauce. You can taste the smokiness in the salsa which is nice. Just discovered a hidden gem in Upper Arlington - La Loma Mexican Restaurant! 🌮🎉

As newcomers to the area, we were craving some authentic Mexican cuisine after a disappointing experience elsewhere in UA. La Loma did not disappoint!

Highlights: • Warm welcome with THREE different salsas and chips 🌶️ • Exceptional margaritas - don't miss the kiwi and off-menu coladarita! 🍹 • Queso with chorizo - tasty, though a bit runny • Chimichangas are a must-try, especially the flavor-packed pastor 😋

The attentive service and fresh, delicious food have us ready to become regulars. Can't wait to explore more of the menu!
