MCL Restaurant & Bakery — Kingsdale — Restaurant in Upper Arlington

Been coming here for a long time now with my family so now I'm bringing my son. This place has been a staple in my life for meeting up with family so you could say it has some nostalgia in it for me. It's exactly what it sounds like, set up cafeteria style but don't think that shares any resemblance to your old school cafeteria. The food is far better and consistent. Never had any issues or a bad meal. Everyone that works there is very friendly and helpful, getting through the line is quick and they'll explain everything to you if you have questions and at the end you take your tray sit down and enjoy! Most recently went with my son and parents, he got the childs portion with a chicken thigh, mashed potato casserole, jello and a blueberry muffin (he thought it was a cupcake and yes that boy can put down his body weight in food it feels like sometimes). I got their stuffed chicken which is always a solid choice and some strawberries (I didn't get a full meal this time around so if it looks light, I skipped the sides). Our family has been going to the MCL in Kingsdale since 1972. I hope this will portray for you friends the quality and consistency of this restaurant. You get a meal here that will remind you of the way eating out should be. You can go there and feel like you had a home cooked meal, and it will be the same wonderful taste every time. And they have something for every one every day. From a healthy salad or fruit plate, an appetizer, a small meal to a large one consisting of chicken, beef, pork, or one of several seafoods, and much more, you will enjoy your meal and look forward to next time before you leave. If I could give MCL a hundred stars I would. You hear that sometimes, but I hope our 47 years of going there will express to you there is a reason they are still there and a reason you will want to check it out. It will be your go to place again and again for a quick meal, a leisurely one, or a big family celebration...they can accommodate you and it will become a tradition for you, too. I LOVE anything restaurant wise that I are at as a kid:)) This place has flavor!! How they get it I probs don’t want to know;) Their food is primarily soft with both of these attributes attributed to the average age of 74 in this and I can only assume all other MCL’s:) This is not a knock at old people, I’m officially old at 51 and strive to make it to the age of everyone in that store lol. Mad respect to anyone out there braving their 80’s or 90’s and owell let’s give a shout out to the septuagenarian’s as well❤️❤️❤️

Sorry about that, back on task. If you possess self confidence and can take the slack you might be getting announcing yourself lunch or dinner plans the food is worth it. It IS pricey tho so be forewarned…also it’s nice to bring a few singles to tip the usually again very old diner attendants that get you refills, napkins, and take your huge trays away. It’s a cafeteria...
