It was a special treat to find authentic Guatemalan food in Philadelphia. The restaurant was quiet and clean, and our hostess was quite friendly and accommodating. We ordered rellenitos, Carne asada, Churrasquito Guatemalteco, freshly baked sweet bread and a strawberry pineapple licuado (smoothie) to drink. The meals were served with grilled scallions, fresh made chirmol (salsa), fresh guacamole, fried sweet plantains, black bean purée, Guatemalan rice (simple yet flavorful), and a nice macaroni salad with red peppers. But perhaps the Best part of the meal— thick, soft, substantial (and naturally gluten free) hand made corn tortillas that are distinctly Guatemalan and that are next to impossible to find anywhere in Philly. Read more1 am an African American women who loves food from all cultures and I decided to try this place today after a long day of work. When I walked in and took a seat no one greeted me. A few others came into the store and the waitress went straight to them. I finally raised my hand up to ask for a menu and was given one but did not get service until about 20 minutes later. I placed a to go order and was told the menu prices are not the prices for me. I was told everything on the menu is really 2$ more than what it really is. 1 ordered take out and got all the way home to see that there were items missing after spending $50. Also another patron there told me I could rent the place out for parties but when I asked the owner she said it was not true and she would ask her husband.
