Kisasa Institute of Adult Education is the adult education division of Multicultural Community Family Services at 7016 Terminal Square in Upper Darby, PA 19082. We provide GED prep courses, Customer Service and Sales Certificate, Nurse's Aide Certificate and English as a Second Language or English Language Learner (ESL/ELL). These services are provided free of charge to legal residents 18-24 years old. Immigration support services are also provided for any age and family groups for a minimal contribution.
Preparing older Youth to Succeed (POYS) is a holistic approach to job-readiness program that is focused on legal resident, low income, older youth 18 -24. POYS focuses on strengthening entry level job-seekers through basic academic and workforce skill development. It is primarily sponsored by Delaware County Workforce Development Board and subsidized by Multicultural Community Family Services (MCFS) together with United Way of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia.
All materials and services are free to participants. The materials include the computers, GED Text Books, NRF Customer Service and Sales text books together with supplemental resources, pencils, highlighters, flash-drives and notebooks, etc.
Our instructional services are differentiated and assessment driven; they are individualized using Zoom and in-person format (no more than three participants for in-person learning during COVID-19). Testing services are also free to participants who might have to retake the tests multiple times. That also means that students are allowed take the time they need to focus on what they need to know in order to meet their goals. Each student can take as little as two weeks or as much as two years following the SMART Plan.
