Fanta African International Restaurant — Restaurant in Upper Darby

My boyfriend and I decided to give this place a try due to its 4 star rating and now i sit here beyond disappointed. Not only was the customer service poor so was the food. When we entered the restaurant we were not greeted, my presence wasn't even acknowledged. There were no menus on any of the tables so we had to go to the counter to order. After we ordered our food the woman at the counter got up went to the back and i swear i heard her pressing buttons on a microwave. I think she was literally the only person there (the restaurant was completing empty besides us and 1 other person). Me and my boyfriend are sitting down waiting for our food, when it's done its not brought to us on plates the woman has it packed in to-go boxes. We wanted to sit in and eat. Either way when it comes to the food. I ordered sweet potatoes and beef. One, they didn't have sweet potatoes and had to substitute it with plantains, that didn't really bother me but the place is empty and its lunch hour...you didn't just run out of potatoes. Two the beef was terrible. I had 3 good pieces, the rest i had to give to the dogs. Most pieces were nothing but fat and those that weren't were either raw or so tough i couldn't...

Was in the neighborhood and tried out this restaurant for lunch. The interior has a plain, no-frills appearance, but each table has a different and interesting table covering. There is also a lot of takeout business, at least for lunch, so people were coming and going but few were seated. The owner, despite being busy, was perfectly lovely and helped me pick out my meal. My guest, a vegetarian, found sufficient options on the side order menu. The food seemed pricey, even allowing for pandemic supply issues, until I saw the portions. One entree could easily serve two, possibly three. The food was delicious and fresh, prepared while you wait, nothing sitting around. It seems there are currently only one or two employees, so don't expect fast food speed, but again, the food quality was worth the wait, both interesting and authentic. I cannot wait to eat my leftovers and will definitely go back next time I am in the neighborhood. Two final comments for the less adventuresome: 1) fish will be served with head and tail on, and 2) use the pepper sauce in the small container...

I went here today. I called and placed my order before hand. During the call I told her that I wanted Potato leaves and asked if she had it she said yes. I said I don’t want you to use spinach so if you don’t have it she reassured me she had potato leaves. Of course when I get there I hand her the money open my food and taste it in front of her. I confront her about her deception. Of course she use spinach. She denies it as if I and my mate didn’t know the difference. I explained to her that don’t decieve peoples food. I told her that people can have food allergies and that type of behavior is not ok just to make a sell. I told her I was going to give them a bad review. This is unacceptable for any food service. I allow her to keep the money because she clearly was willing to risk her business for a $12 sell. Smh. God knows what else she doing to the food. I will never go to another African Restaurant...
