Yesterday, I had the WORSE of the WORSE experience/situation at Royal Diner. I will NEVER EVER GO BACK!!!! I went inside & I ordered 2 ORDERS OF "BEEF" BACON, BURNT & an order of HOMEFRIES WITH Onions & peppers. It was about 5/6pm (my husband wanted some beef bacon and homefries, so I decided to grab him some from there). I got my order, and I IMMEDIATELY checked the bacon. It wasn't well done or "Burnt." The waiter took it back to get cooked the way I asked (she apologized). Once the waiter came back, she opened 1 container of bacon, it was cooked burnt, and she advised me that the other order looked the same. I thanked her. I get home, my husband opens his food, and immediately pour his 2 containers of bacon into the bigger container with his homefries & IMMEDIATELY sees how they put PORK BACON in with his BEEF BACON 🤬. I immediately call the diner, of course it was a wholeeeee song & dance. I drove back to the restaurant. When I say my irritation level with the lady whom claimed she was in charge was at an ALL TIME HIGH, it was at an all-time high. Mind yall, my husband and I haven't aten pork in over 30 years! So we know THE DIFFERENCE between beef, turkey & pork bacon! She looks at the bacon CONFUSED, I show her how DIFFERENT the piece of bacon is compared to the rest, (a waiter says to herself, because she knew, how the cooks were being smart, Smh). I EVEN asked her if they cook all types of bacon on the same grill because if not, I'm trying to understand the mix-up. OF COURSE, she say they cook the bacons on differnt grill. She goes back to the kitchen, comes back to me with the bacon still in hand and say, "they can't tell if it wasn't beef bacon or pork bacon because some beef bacon is light" 😒!!!! Miss WHAT, beef bacon is dark and even darker when burnt???? Then she says to me how she's muslim and dont eat pork either. I looked her her because THEN SHE SHOULD KNOW THAT THE BECON THAT were INSIDE MY BEEF BACON WAS PORK 🤦🏾♀️ I immediately asked her for a refund, which she tried to give me a hard time with. By now, customers have started to come to the front to cash out. Not only was she trying to make excuses on how it was "possibly beef bacon" but, NOT 1 TIME DID SHE SAY HOW SORRY SHE WAS OR ANYTHING for the mix up like her cooks are so perfect and couldnt have messed up. Being Muslim, I know no one is PERFECT, and accidents happen, but for her to not take accountability for the error at hand, he had truly upset. Mind yall, my family and I used to visit their restaurant for YEARS when it was EMPIRE. WE came in contact and had great conversations with the owners who were MUSLIM. I'm not even sure if they still own this restaurant or someone else. But man, o man, this experience was a bad one. Yes, I took a Pic so anyone who reads this can see the difference and how the top is PORK BACON & BOTTOM is...
Read moreWhen the Royal Diner replaced the Empire Diner, I was hopeful it could live up to the high standards set by its predecessor. Unfortunately, it’s a total letdown in every way.
Let’s start with the food—it’s bad, plain and simple. My scrambled eggs were overcooked and rubbery, the home fries were soggy and flavorless, and the pancakes tasted like they’d been reheated from frozen. Even the coffee, which should be a diner staple, was weak and lukewarm. It felt like no effort went into the cooking, and the quality was far below average.
Then there’s the location itself. Walking in, you’re immediately hit with the smell of mold, which is both off-putting and concerning. The ceiling tiles are stained, the lighting is dim and uninviting, and the entire place feels neglected. It’s hard to enjoy a meal when the environment feels borderline unsanitary.
The service was the icing on the (stale) cake. Our server seemed completely uninterested in being there—forgetting parts of our order, barely checking in, and acting annoyed whenever we asked for something. It took forever to get our food and even longer to get the check.
The Royal Diner had big shoes to fill, but it’s not even trying. The Empire Diner was a beloved community staple, and this new spot is an insult to its memory. Save your time, money, and appetite—this place isn’t worth...
Read moreMany negative reviews are unfortunately quite accurate . Mr Owner get with it y'all serve low quality food, apparently prepared by an unskillful chef . Restaurant loyalty is the most fleeting of all there is a endless selection to chose from Diners especially need repeat n referral customer n minimum negative reviews to prosper or else slow turnover of perishable foods . This place charges almost NYC prices in Landsdown PA Waitress was friendly n good when she didn't disappear for extremely long periods of time & The place was dead as hell too We got a burger n roast beef sandwich.gf took a bite or two n refused to eat further My roast beef completely sucked n a weird roll didn't taste fresh at all ..fries below average Coffee barely Luke warm n weak AF too Dessert options extremely abundant But I wonder in such a dead restaurant with bad reviews n very high prices how old done of the cakes n pies are Yes a mouse was extremely active on a opposite table Wouldn't be surprised if it was same owner as last guy just trying to bury old reviews etc Location is good .
