I have been going to Duffy’s since 1999 when it was walking distance from my office. Many jobs/homes later, I am not close...but I have happily braved the cross-KOP lunchtime traffic in order to feel that ‘comfort’ in the middle of my day.
It has been my midday respite on some of my most hectic workdays. I always talked Duffy’s up — ordered for my office at times — and was there at least 4-5 times per month on my own.
They knew my name...treated me well ...always made-good if there was a mistake...and most importantly, I felt the LOVE and PRIDE that the team exuded about their business.
Summer 2018 — I go in and everything is rearranged. I’m told they are remodeling. My sandwich (same one I get EVERY time) comes out on spongy bread with less sandwich content...the price went up...and the beverage case is empty. I think “they must just be overwhelmed’...I say nothing.
Next time — same thing — except now it takes three times longer because my order must be keyed-in instead of written down...receipt shows wrong thing. I say something immediately...it still comes out wrong. I watch them dump it out on grill...add missing ingredient and dump it again. Mind you...I’ve just taken a bite (thus realizing order was wrong)...so my germs are now on everybody else’s grill.
I also notice that only two of the faces of the staff are familiar. So I ask...”are you under new ownership?”...I am told ‘yes’
Well that explains that. I should have reviewed the old owner’s restaurant, because they were wonderful. From 1999-early 2018 ...5 stars.
As of today, my Duffy’s run ends — and new owners can deduct about $6000/year from their bottom line — which I assume matters most to them — hence the...

Their burgers are no longer burnt, but they are bland and there's nothing that sets their burgers apart from anywhere else, mcdonalds has better burgers than here. Won't be ordering from here ever again i use to be a regular customer, i always ordered their burgers with mushrooms. One day out of the blue, they had zero flavor, then they were beyond burnt, or they didn't put any cheese on it or it was very undercooked. I tried switching over to their cheeseteaks.. beyond salty and several coworkers have this issue. i tried their breakfast bacon egg and cheese omelet. The outside was burnt and the eggs on the inside were runny and beyond undercooked, and the homefries were beyond dry and only tasted like salt. which a lot of poeple have this problem as well. I tried reaching out to them a few times to make a complaint and nothings changed. Will never order from this place again and would highly advise against...
Read moreI don't like having to write bad reviews but when something has happened multiple times, I feel it is warranted. I ordered a salad with extra dressing that I pay for and on two separate occasions, I did not receive it after waiting an hour for delivery. Then on both of those occasions, I did call to state this and they stated "that they were sending it right over". That "right over" was an over an hour wait. I understand being short drivers but I do not understand how you can send out a salad twice with out dressing and then inconvenience the customer more by making them wait longer to eat their food. As well as I am limited to a certain time for a break, this is being delivered to work, so now I am rushed to eat, if at all. And I don't get any type of reimbursement or credit for the inconvenience. Really use to like this place but now I will no longer use them and neither...
