DO YOU EVEN WANT TO BE OPEN ANYMORE?

Every time I go into this location around lunch it seems the store and employees are itching to get out for the day. This has been proven with the lack of bagel selections from 10 am onward (my time visiting as ranged) where "no more bagels will be made but you can order for tomorrow" is an option, even though you are open until 2 pm. How are you a lunch place, if your doors are locked at 1 pm on a Wednesday? If you wish to change your hours, then do so - but stop confusing the people who are trying to give you business by not offering items written on your menu and closing up shop just for fun. The amount of times myself or my family members have been disappointed is very sad. We hoped this new ownership would be a step in the correct direction as we love MB and have for decades (at this location), but it is just proving to be as unreliable as the previous one, just in different aspects. I really do hope something is fixed before this location goes...

Two weeks ago, my great uncle was visiting from Europe. It was his first time in America. Being a master baker and owner of a bagel store in Warsaw, he wanted to try America's famous "New York bagel." I figured, what better place to take him than Manhattan Bagel? Sadly, when we showed up, we were greeted with a "store closed - equipment failure" sign. We were forced to eat a Dunkin' Donuts bagel instead.

Today was my uncle's last day in America. Still in search of a New York bagel, we figured we'd give Manhattan Bagel another shot. Yet once again, we were greeted with the "store closed - equipment failure" sign. He asked me "is all bagel stores closed in America?" I tried to explain that no, this is not normal. He asked "what equipment they need for make bagel? In Poland, use dough and heat!" I once again was embarrassed and had no answers for him. He said he will not be returning to America. Manhattan Bagel makes me ashamed to call myself an American. Shame...

I went in to get two drinks today, and was delighted at how nicely the staff treated me :) We had a great conversation- about allergies! They were very understanding of my lactose intolerance. They were warm and welcoming. I’ve been here a couple times, and always get a great experience. Not sure why there’s so many negative reviews. I’ve delivered their orders for DoorDash too, and have never had a big issue.

The front part of the store is also spotless, which I appreciated. I watched them clean while I was there, so it’s a sanitary place to eat. The only constructive criticism I have is that the bathrooms could be cleaner. There were streaks on the walls and mirror from water. The toilet bowl needed to be cleaned. The toilet paper also needs to be changed.

So I took 1 star off for that. Otherwise, 5/5 experience. Whenever I order food from here I do love it, even if the lactose doesn’t always love...
