We had a family destination today to Chester Springs and the brand new White Dog!! We were all so excited to be back in our old town and see what amazing work fearless restaurants had done to the past Vickers Tavern. Also so excited to see our own “white dog” Callie’s portrait hanging in the restaurant!! I’ll post all that info below….but first can I just say WOW!! As we drove up to the spot we were blown away by just the outside. Beautiful bright white with a perfect new cedar roof and signage and seeing how the perfect beautiful line of the original structure were there. A stunning beauty!! As you walk up your met with a large beautiful outdoor patio with fireplace and much seating. I can just imagine in fall how coveted that seating will be! You open the entrance door and your immediately met with the feel like your entering someone’s cozy home. The textures, the beauty and all the dogs!! There are many themed rooms just like the other White Dog locations but this is just different and I believe the age of the structure and the bones (no pun intended) of the property are literally alive with such a positive feeling and energy it just speaks to you with one of the most welcoming tones I’ve felt in a long time. Positive energy and we know we all need more of that!! We took a walk around and say the massive bar which will be “the” happy hour spot for sure now, the side rooms, the second bar and a hunting cabin feel and we saw our Callie in the side dining room and then we sat in what I called the potting shed room. Charm galore!! Sorry for a long post but so much to tell!! On to the food. Had a new school brunch menu and what a hit. The shared plates like donuts and yellowfin tuna tartare (perfection) the deviled eggs were a hit as were the fried pickles and charred ends. We all ordered a breakfast and my farmers plate which I love at White Dog Wayne was delicious. Waffles and a Kennett Square mushroom omelette…just a brunch to end all other brunches. Dessert?? Would have loved to but we said next time! The experience is so positive and so relaxing that I can say White Dog has completely upped their game in a way nothing else does. The atmosphere, the ambiance and the fantastic service was outstanding. The tone the restaurant sets is epic and I truly believe for hundreds of year patrons have enjoyed this spot and I believe for hundreds to come in to the future. Make your reservation right now and experience this for yourself…. Info: dog portraits are amazing and we worked with Janelle Morrison who owns west coast east coast painter…just look her up on Facebook or Instagram. She’s done an amazing job and made those pups come to life!! A true talent… — at White Dog Cafe...
Read moreIt’s too bad there is not a six-star rating for staff (service) because the staff we encountered on Friday, June 20, 2025 easily merits it. The evening began with a delightful visit to the meadows at Longwood and the intention to dine near there afterward. The restaurant we had planned on was closed due to a storm-born power outage. With little time we gambled to get to the White Dog (Chester Springs) before 9:30, the time at which the kitchen was due to close. We arrived at 9:28 and were greeted by the receptionist and the assistant general manager (Sam) and asked if it was too late to dine. Prior to the assistant manager returning from checking with the kitchen staff, we told the receptionist not to bother. My gal is a server elsewhere and she is very sensitive to the sentiments of the servers, cooks, … near the time of shutting down. We were halfway back to our car when we heard from behind Sam’s voice exclaiming, they would be happy to sit us and provide for our dinner. We were apologetic and repeated our not wanting to prolong the day of the staff, but we were assured all those involved were happy to serve us and that they would not suffer in doing so. We were greeted by Luis, a friendly individual with a great sense of humor. He was patient and treated us as though we were his first patron of the evening. Our dinner was delightful. The appetizers and entrees were perfect and aesthetically inviting. The taste and textures were fresh, crisp and sumptuous. Satiated, we ordered a desert to-go so the experience lingered the following morning. Considering our late arrival, there were many ways we could have been disappointed, but there were none. The meal and the impression it left is but a small part of the experience which was dominated by the friendliness, thoughtfulness and kindness of the staff. I would recommend the White Dog (Chester Springs) to anyone without hesitation and give their staff an...
Read moreThere was a time when the White Dog restaurant in Philly was our "go-to" to celebrate very special occasions. We loved the eclectic atmosphere and the fresh and innovative menu. The food was outstanding. So when the White Dog cafe opened near where we live, we were more than excited. The renovation to this old historic structure both inside and out is beautiful! Well-done, Fearless!! I know it was a challenge as evidenced in driving by while the renovations were taking place. The staff is great and friendly. We have been to the restaurant in Chester Springs a handful of times since they opened almost a year ago. And every single time the food has been a disappointment. My husband keeps saying, "give it time, they just opened and are working out the kinks", but I don't think that is the case. I realize everyone has different standards and "tastebuds", but IMHO the meals don't live up to the prices. Often the food has come out lukewarm or cold, the food presentation is not up to snuff, and the kitchen is a bit heavy handed with oils and sauces (as a person with digestive sensitivities, this is a problem). Please abide by the fresher and simpler you can make the food, the better. So I have a few suggestions for the kitchen...make sure the food is hot when delivered to the guests, do not smother the fresh ingredients - it's just not necessary, and plate as though you were creating a work of art. Another "beef" my husband keeps mentioning is when the runners come out with food, please know who ordered what. There is a disconnect between server and runner. Thank you for reading my review. I really, really want to love...
