My husband and I tried to order inside. The cash/credit machine was out of order; of course you wouldn't know that until it was time to pay and the machine didn't take your money. We decided to go through the drive through. It had been over 15 years for my husband since he has eaten at a Steak and Shake, and twenty-six years for myself; to make it special this was our third year anniversary. The drive-thru was slow. We got to the window, and the lady asked, "Would you be my first tip of the night?"; and we had to tell her what we ordered because she was lost at her job; they aren't supposed to ask for tips. We waited ten minutes for any of our food/drink. The lady came back to the window; after watching a young man walk back and forth eating while working on the line; she opened the drive-thru window and asked my husband, "Can I help you sir?" He replied confused, "We haven't gotten our food yet." She looked shocked and said, "Oh, I'm sorry", and repeated our order. We could see our Cookies and Cream shake sitting at the window the entire time, the tenders in the fry basket, and a large and medium fry on the counter, THE ENTIRE TIME. Ten more minutes passed, the lady returned to the window, asked what our order was, again, and tried to give us the wrong shake. My husband told her, "We had the Cookies and Cream Shake", she handed it to us and it had melted. She then handed us our bag of food, three tenders and a large fry, they were cold. My husband had to repeat to her, "We also ordered a Cheese Fry", she said, "Oh", left for five more minutes before handing us the fries. My husband looked inside the bag and there was no cheese sauce, just fries. My husband got the lady's attention, "Excuse me, miss, we ordered cheese fries, this is just fries". She gave us an ounce of cheese sauce and said, "You have to pour the cheese sauce on yourselves because we don't make cheese fries for the drive-thru, just for the inside", and yet we were charged for the cheese fries full priced. We tried to ask for a receipt, but the lady refused. My husband and I looked at each other and really hoped the food was better than the service. Well, the milkshake was melted and horrible, the fries, cold, dry, and old; the tenders, cold, and also old; the cheese sauce was not nearly enough and tasted like metal. We were very disappointed and our anniversary was ruined. We recommend never going to the Steak and Shake in Valdosta. It is operated as a convenient store with employees who have no work ethics. I pray for anyone who eats and puts up with a place like that. I pray that God goes easy on the working crew that...
Read moreMy brother and I really enjoy Steak/Shake, one of our favorite quick restaurants, and it is usually conscientious service. Drive thru, lady asks to take our order. I myself do not see how this could be any easier, I ordered 4 number sevens($3.99 for double cheeseburger and fry), but asked if we could get all 4 the same, without anything else but the bread and meat ketchup, mustard. No cheese or anything else, just the bun and the 2 patties. The response from the speaker said, "you don't want the bread?". Should have seen it coming right then. "Yes we want the bread, we just want the bread, meat, ketchup, mustard.". $17 and change, not bad with the current situation, administration. We get home, all 4 sandwiches have melted cheese between the meat and bread, and the patties. 3 slices per sandwich! My brother is special needs, 24/7 care, and is also unfortunately highly allergic to cheese, this request was extremely important. My brother is the kindest most special person, he Never complains(I make up for it!!), He just smiles and says it's ok. Well, it's not. I was not able to scrape it off satisfactorily as it was thoroughly meted down in the burgers and bread, and I know what will happen if he were to eat them. Now if this was miscommunication I can somewhat understand, but I reiterated several times, "No cheese, meat, bread". The receipt shows 4 DBLSTK CHS/FF Ketchup Mustard. It wasn't a mix up in the kitchen. Now I'm feeling like the bad guy withholding sandwiches that he was so excited to eat, and must now try to scrape up something and paint good light on it, that its going to be better than a burger he's been excited about all afternoon while running 3 hours of errands together, him being an angel the entire time because he was so excited to eat at Steak and Shake. I honestly can't see how this wasn't blatant, I should have checked the bag prior to leaving. If it wasn't taking something away from someone who absolutely cherishes an outing at a drive thru I would have never put any of...
Read moreWe arrived at Steak & Shake at this location in Valdosta GA 12/21/14. There were maybe about 4 other customers inside. The server greeted us and sat us down knowing that we were a party of 15. I stated to her that maybe we should have 2 differnt billed maybe it would be a little easier. It took her 10 or more mins to come take our order. she looked so confused before she even started. There may have been like 6 other servers there just standing around talking and laughing. Instead of other servers helping out they let her handle it all by her self. We were seated at 3 different tables that should have made it easier for everyone. She started to take our order excusing her self several times don't know why. She can back and took the order for all 3 tables. After 30 mins can back with bits of everyones order and didn't know who's order was who's. She was having so much trouble with our orders. All orders for tables were in complete. We had to keep telling her that where was the whole order for the table.!!! She never bought us waters after we asked only 2 we brough to us. Some drinks, no shakes at all the whole time. We ordered 8 shakes and didn't receive them until we were getting ready to leave in to go cups. We were sharing drinks because some of the kids were upset that they had nothing to drink. My son was crying because because he had no food yet( until after 50 min.) My son then received his chicken tenders still no drink, or shake. I talked to the Manager she only made excused for the problem, and said how sorry she was. The manager said that the shake problem was because no one was making shakes???? This was the worst serves we have ever received at steak and shake. So someone needs to see what the problem is at this location starting with...
