Suruki's — Restaurant in Vallejo

I love coming to Suruki's because hello, the location is great. I can get all my shopping done & eat sushi?! IN THE SAME PLAZA. They always have specials going on and the Bento Box one is usually a steal. Plus, if you're lucky, you'll walk in when their chicken teriyaki is the special and order some shrimp tempura on the side. I always get their handrolls, edamame or their spicy chicken wings (which aren't even spicy). They taste so good. & they have daily specials too during the weekday. Monday is $1.99 handrolls, tuesday is 0.99 spam masubis (I believe), Wednesday (I think) is Chicken Teriyaki bowls, and Thursday is their spicy chicken wings. Although a lot of people give this place a bad rep because "customer service" a lot of the employees here are high school sophomores-seniors, as their first job. & that is no excuse but the place does get packed & busy and the frustration seems to all go to the FOH employees. I asked once why a couple orders came out faster than others and it's because they have one chef working on hot food items & another on the sushi. & if there's one person doing each thing, obviously it makes sense why other foods come out faster than others. & when it gets like that, & the hot foods are done, I've seen the other chef help the sushi maker out. I wish this place was a little big, I know that the place would fill out eventually as it already does. Call in ahead of time & expect your food to be ready in about 20-30 mins during busy hours, or 15 mins during non-busy hours. Plus, I like that this place allows you to customize your bento, not like other sushi places in the area. & you honestly cannot beat their teriyaki sauce. I've tried other sushi businesses in Vallejo but this one HANDS down has the best sauce. So believe me, the wait...

So long review but WORTH IT!! I live a few hours away from Vallejo. But when I travel down to the bay I always stop at this place even makes me late for my next destination because this place has the best service and the best food literally its mouth watering so delicious. I've been going here for like 5 years now. Mind you every time I go into this place they are packed food doesn't normally take long I always get it to go but they are always packed this last time I went it was empty completely empty The girl up front was frumpy and very quiet I had to ask her to repeat herself a few times. Got the food opened it in the car for a bite like I normally do. And it was horrible I've never had bad sushi before in my life. I got a bento box even the tempura somehow tasted bad I've never had bad food from this place so I don't know if they have new owners or what was happening that day. I don't want to put a one bad time on years of delicious food I am heading back down to Vallejo a week from the last time that I was there I'm going to try it again but it is so frustrating with how expensive everything is to spend 60 plus dollars on food and it is like terrible. Last time I picked up food from them was the 23rd so a few days ago. Maybe just take a bite when you get out to the car. If this food doesn't explode with flavor in your mouth take it back in because that is how Sakura's is supposed to taste. I was completely shocked as was my partner because his food has always been incredible maybe they just had an off day but the fact that there was no one in there they've been busy like as long as they're open especially in the evening around dinner time and there was no one in there so that was kind of the first red...

Update:

This is a casual eatery offering sushi rolls, bento box, ramen, spam musubi, mostly sushi in the menu. They offer dine in, to-go, delivery. They accept cash and card. Plenty of parking located at Gateway Plaza.

I support local businesses, however, I was disappointed with the recent visit regarding the taste of the food. Presentation is good, customer service is ok. Tip will be asked at the screen upon ordering and payment but optional.

The Lion King in my opinion is pricey and the price is not worth it. It's like a California roll with too much stuff on top that is salty i mean too salty. I had this roll long time ago and it does not taste like this.

I recommend the bento box. Plenty of items, delicious, cost almost the same as Lion King. The bento box is worth ordering though. No free water, we purchased our drink outside after eating. $35 for the two orders.

Great food and friendly staff! We often go here whenever we crave for sushi. I love the combo A B and C which is worth it to order to reach point of satiety for craving sushi. They have promotions or discounts for a certain food...
