Reservation for 18, set days in advanced @7pm. Called day of to confirm all was well, was told reservation pushed to 8pm, bring paper plates(?!! What) for our birthday cake we were bringing because they would be cleaning up & to show up 15 minutes early so we could place order for kitchen since it closed at 9 & we couldn't stay after that. Told everyone new time again. Whole party showed up on time, 7:45p; hostess apologized for what Amber told us earlier, assured is we would not be rushed out, and said our seating wasn't ready.. We didn't get sat until 8:15p... Seating was 2 individual tables of 4 & a table for 8... Yes only 16, we moved tables together and got chairs for end to make it work...All of this before even ordering! --- It was not fine dining, it was so absolutely loud from the bar! It felt like 2 spaces unharmoniously squished into one cramped place. --- Sweet corn & Chorizo chowder, Mafia roll, Blue Point Oysters (raw on the shell), & Filet Mignon - Delicious - also only things would get again. Literally spot on!! --- Lobster Bisque was Campbell's soup tasting with no lumps of lobster smelled fishy - sent back Creme Brulee looked pretty but tasted like a walk in fridge --- So many things were out that we didn't have many choices that weren't fried - terribly disappointing. --- They ended up making a cavatappi Shrimp mac n cheese for a few of us - waiter suggested as an alternative, because they didn't have any of the other 3 pasta dishes. A few people had the burgers - they said well made (medium) & delicious, yet overpriced. Bread baskets came out after food?! Kitchen/waitress didn't offer to cut cake. *Our waiters didn't bring it out otherwise I'm sure they would've offered* *We didn't have to provide dessert plates thankfully!!* --- All-in-all, will not return & was left apologizing to my party guests. If you're looking for an upscale dining experience, this is not it. If you're looking for a fancy sports bar with mid @ best offerings & loud Rock/country music - this is your spot. Oh also, wait staff - we had 2 for our section a tall guy & a girl - they were Ammazing!! Total time: ~2 hours

Blue Point Oysters and Sushi Bar in downtown Valparaiso. It had been under consideration for my wife and I for our Friday night Date nights before more than once but for some reason or another we always managed to talk ourselves out of it, but not tonight. I suggested it, she said "fine" 😃! We aren't big on oysters but sushi... we agreed on the HAPPY ROLL - Shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, mango, avocado, cucumber, and mango chili sauce for a shared appetizer. It was very good. They were running some fine sounding specials so we both made our choices from that list of offerings. She had the Blacked American Red Snapper with a mango salsa and then bacon brussel sprouts and a baked potato for her side. My choice was a fish called Skate or sometimes Skate Wing. A flat fish whose meat is somewhat stringy instead of flaky, sort of like an ultra fine chicken breast meat, but not mushy in any way. It was very well seasoned with capers, herbs and a white wine reduction. I also had the bacon brussel sprouts but had the sweet potatoes instead. They also have an extensive dessert menu 😋. The ones that appealed to my wife the most were the Pineapple Upside-down Cake and a Bananas Foster Crepe with Vanilla Ice Cream, she chose the later. Me? They were offering a limited special of a Lemon & Blueberry Bread Pudding. Not quite as good as I was hoping, weak on both the lemon and blueberries, but I forced myself.... Overall experience was very good, the atmosphere was wonderful and more to our liking. More than likely will visit again and could recommend them.

We were seated immediately. Fast and friendly staff members. We ordered the peel and eat appetizer. It came out quickly. The shrimp were fresh and served on a bed of ice with cocktail sauce, and I believe horseradish dip. The shrimp were excellent. My wife ordered the garlic herb chicken with potatoes. I ordered the fish and chips. After a short wait, our food came. The chicken was still steaming hot, and we were told it just came out of the oven. My fish and chips were served in a metal bowl of sorts. See the picture. While cute, it was hard to eat out of it. The fish was served on top of large portion of fries. It made it hard to cut the fish. It was served with coleslaw, tartar sauce, ketchup, and a hushpuppy. The fish was excellent. Probably the best fish and chips I have had as far as I can remember. The slaw was creamy good. The hushpuppy was good, but a tad dry. The portion of fries was huge. I couldn't finish them all. My wife said the chicken was merely okay. Well, it's a seafood restaurant so. The ambiance is okay. Not really a fan of sitting on a chair in the isle. I highly recommend the fish and chips. I would return just for that. It's pricier than other restaurants in the area and they upcharge you if you pay by credit card.

I have gone in a few times and had great experiences. I purchased a few gift certificates for relatives and friends and was pretty excited about this place since they opened. Until tonight.... I took my brother and his fiance out for her birthday. We got drinks and a few appetizers. We also ordered a few sushi rolls and my brothers fiance ordered a bowl of lemon rice soup that was on special. We got our drinks. There was only one server working and it seemed like a slow night. The appetizers came first and we ate them. The soup came at the same time as the Sushi. It had no rice in it. It was like lemon creme. I never send anything back but I asked the server about it because it was supposed to be lemon rice soup and she apologized and took it back. She brought it back after about 5-10 minutes (I am assuming they added sushi rice to it. If it wasn't lemon rice soup she could have just said there wasn't rice in it.) So, my brother's fiance started to eat it and noticed that there was a bug in it. I asked for the waitress to come back over. She took the soup back again. I asked her to just bring the bill. By the time the bug was found most of the other food was gone anyway. She apologized and dropped the check off. I looked at it and the soup wasn't on the bill. My brother's fiance went to the car because she was pretty upset. It took almost 10 minutes at that point to get my card taken up. My brother wanted to walk out he was so pissed.

The bill was $85.00. I was angry. She asked me if something was wrong because she heard me tell my brother we would never be returning. I told her that I couldn't believe that we found a bug in our food and that no one said anything. Not a manager... Nothing. If someone finds a bug in my food I expect it not to be treated as such a common occurrence. Even at the freaking Olive Garden a manager can be bothered to check on your table...

She told me that she said sorry when she took the soup away and she pointed out that they took it off my bill. I told her that it wasn't her job to apologize. It was her managers job. I still left her a tip. Servers have nothing to do with what happens in the kitchen. It was gross. My brother was right. I should have taken them to Stacks for her Birthday... I won't be making that...

Normally we love this place. Tonight horrible. Wife and I come twice a month. Everything was great except the asparagus was so burnt and smelled drenched in gas. My wife’s and mine smelled and tasted the same. It was so bad it gave me a small headache from smelling it on my plate. As soon as plate was put down the asparagus was the first item wife and I tried because it’s normally great. Looked at each other with discust and moved it to end of table and continued with the perch. Now the smell and taste was stuck with me. Told my waitress we normally love this place and that the perch is our favorite meal. But tonight the asparagus smelled like it was drenched in gas and overly burnt. It made the dinner not enjoyable. We stopped eating about half way through the perch because of the headache, smell and taste. Waited for our waitress. Relayed this info to her. She said she would take care of and tell someone. Came back with bill, no apology, nothing trying to make it right or change our bad mood which started great because my wife and I were out for a nice dinner. Paid the bill and left a very small tip. It’s not the fact the asparagus was so bad it ruined everything else. It’s the fact the that no one tried to make the evening more enjoyable after we told them of our disappointment. Asked waitress to smell and try it when she took it away. If your unwilling to try something you gave your customer or smell it then there is something wrong. Manager didn’t even know until I told him when I was walking out. Which means our waitress made no effort. Obviously my complaint that our dinner was ruined did not register. Worked in plenty of restaurants. If I heard that from my customer I would immediately try it and smell it. Would never let customers that say they normally love your restaurant leave with a sour taste in their mouth. But no one seemed interested. We normally enjoy their food. But after tonight I can’t see us returning no matter how good we thought their food was prior to...
