My husband and I come here after church most Sundays. We love the food and the waitresses are awesome!!! It is a small cafe so it can be crowded. For those who are not OK with smaller spaces, you'll want to come early, or closer to close to avoid the crowds that descend upon this place like a cloud of hungry locusts. Luckily for the waitresses the crowds don't behave like locusts and are polite and well mannered, myself included. I digress however. This past Sunday I ordered the huevos rancheros scrambled, with avocado slices, hash browns and white toast. My husband got biscuits and gravy. The food was amazing and my husband finished his food in record time. My husband will judge a restaurant solely on how they make their biscuits and gravy. "They make amazing food, and their B&G are stellar!" said my husband. I personally love the variations I can get of the Huevos Rancheros, they come scrambled or I can request them to be made as an omelette and if I beg and plead, probably a skillet too. You do have a choice between hashbrowns or chunked taters I usually get the hashbrowns. Not all restaurant cooks can do a good hash brown, but the cook nails it every time. Perfect amount of crispy and the inside is done perfectly and not raw or lukewarm and mushy. The food presentation is excellent, and looks as good as it tastes. The waitresses are amazing, and very outgoing and friendly. I give this restaurant 5 stars in service, food, and atmosphere. Great...
Read moreExtremely rude waitress. Came in on Easter because we were early coming to a family member's house (thought there was an hour time change from chicago). We needed to kill some time but couldn't eat since we were going to an Easter meal. The plan was to come into the "coffee house", get some coffee for 30 mins and leave a nice tip because we realize we were only getting coffee (despite its name, it's a cafe, not a coffee house).
So she comes up and I tell her nicely, we're only going to have coffee. I asked if they have different types of coffee or just regular. She said just regular. We said, "sounds great". Then she walks snottily up to the guy/maybe owner sitting at the counter and rudely says "they're only here for coffee", then proceeds to mock me about asking if there are different types of coffee in a nasty way (shaking head and high pitched voice). He did not tell her to stop. Then she comes back and puts on a fake smile to try to act nice after being totally rude behind our backs. I would have confronted her but decided it's not worth it. Let her be miserable and move on. This must just how their service is. There were two other tables, it wasn't like the place was busy and we were taking up space. Feel free to go here if you want a nasty, passive aggresive attitude served...
Read moreMy sons and i decided to try this cafe this morning. We walk into this packed small restaurant that smelled like fabulouso on the table and booth. We ordered the ribeye meal and a kids meal. The ribeye was a flat greasy piece of steak. Catfood looks more appetizing. The eggs were good. The pancakes were flavorless. And when i spoke to waitress she gave me an attitude and said she worked at Kelsey's and the steak was by the ounce. 15.99 for a disgusting meal . Horrible Service !!Horrible Food !! I wouldn't serve that to my dog. We left eating nothing and out 36.00 whats worse she was arguing with me . Refusing to do anything.Dont go there ....
