Despite the lower score allow me to say that the food is good, NOT GREAT but good. For drive thru Mexican it’s better than Taco Belle (which is not a high bar to pass). In fact quality wise I would say this is on par with places like La Cabana so if you are looking for something that is good with the convince of easy takeout then this is a great option. The Food itself at least tastes fresh and clean, its not like you’re getting some passable “product” like from McDonalds or Taco Belle, I would highly recommend the Pastor and Barbacoa above all else. And do yourself a favor and get a Horchata, it’s very refreshing and maybe could be the healthiest thing on the menu and would be a great energy booster before a workout.
One thing to take as a point of improvement is that while the food is good, it lacks depth of flavor and texture, the spices and marinades come through sure but you only taste that and the proteins can’t shine on their own. If the company would add more salt to the food itself after the cooking process to taste then it would be much more desirable. The texture of the food also is on the overcooked side and so it feels a little rubbery and the juiciness seems to come from any added sauces you put on the tacos or burritos. Reducing the cook time a bit would be a point of improvement.
Now for the negatives and why this review is so low and that is the service, firstly as a drive thru you would think getting the food fast and ready would be the given however it is not, on both times I came I was waiting for at least 10 minutes from the time I placed my order to when I received it. Not a bad wait admittedly but for the gimmick of grab n go the pace should be quicker. The employees are also not very friendly. The first guy who took my money me feel rather uncomfortable he stared me down nearly the whole time and watched me with this blank almost disgusted look as I took the food and left. Now he did offer me a free sample of the Horchata which was nice but only after he showed disgust at the fact I just wanted a water to drink and was seemingly upset that I still asked for it after I got my Horchata. The second guy had the same vibes and was very rude in handling my transaction. Being rather jerky with his movements like taking my card aggressively and shoving the food right at me and having the same stare of disgust at me.
If the service improves then I think this could be a better place but as it stands, its good/passable food that’s weighed down by...
Read moreOk I admit it is my fault for even tryin a place with sucha unbelievably stupid generic name. #1 counter dude had sucha heavy accent I couldn't understand anything he said. Wasn't just me either. The guy after me had the exact same issue. There's alla like 4 tables in that rinky dink joint so we opted to eat elsewhere. O course the rice had the ubiquitous chinesefood peas. (WHYYYYY) Dude's steak quesadilla hada nice crisp sear on it. Beans n rice-meh. Pretty flavorless. I got the taco platter with steak, shrimp n barbacoa. I hated the limp corn tortilla shells. The shrimp was surprisingly not hammered. The barbacoa was tasty. My steak, however, was a sad gray hue. No sear on it. The sauces were shockingly spicy so I liked them. I was not at all surprised to find out this is a yankee taco chain, hence the moronic name n...
Read moreThis was some of the best Mexican food I've had anywhere, and arguably the best in Valparaiso. I already had Taco Pros in Merrillville once before they opened up here in Valpo, and loved their food then too, so I already had high expectations. My wife and I had chicken and steak tacos along with rice, chips, guac, and lemonade. Not a single complaint for any of the food. Tacos were amazing, rice was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I could not recommend Taco Pros enough. You will not be disappointed!
Also the staff was very friendly and professional. So, thank...
