I called to make an appointment over the phone with a man. He was so very helpful in having problems finding my insurance. Regardless we set an appointment date and time. Even though he couldn’t find my insurance I thought I was still set for my appointment. I showed up on my date and time he told me, for the lady at the front desk, who wasn’t very nice at all, to tell me I didn’t even have an appointment. Considering I drove all the way from Laporte I wasn’t to pleased. I mean come on who goes somewhere and says they have an appointment when they don’t? She was really rude and said well maybe if our other 2 o’clock doesn’t show up we can get you in. So I asked her to run my insurance first to make sure I am even covered before I wait for nothing. I told her my insurance and she curled up her nose because she never heard of it and then on the back realized it was eye med. so I filled out my paper work and when two other people showed up for their appointment they were surprised at how many people had 2 o’clock appointments like they had no idea what was going on. They made a couple leave because they didn’t “text confirm” their appointment. They were mad as expected. The lady began to become nicer to me but I’m not sure if I will return. Nice people but… After the eye exam, the person that measured me for bifocals and PD, really rushed it. I say this because I have worn glasses for 40 years and my wife worked for an eye surgeon. Glasses arrived and they were horrible. PD was off significantly. No glasses was better than wearing them. Went back, the second person took a full ten minutes measuring, rechecking and then checking again. Confirmed they were incorrect. Here’s the rub. It is their fault and yet there was no effort to expedite the order or offer any alternatives or reduction in price, such as a refund or extra glasses. Target Optical in Valparaiso, IN has very good customer service, good assistance in choosing a frame, and always delivers the glasses on the day promised. Staff is especially helpful in assisting with frames that compliment your face. The frame selections aren’t huge, but what they do have is good quality, name brands, and a nice price variation. I ordered three pairs of Ralph Lauren frames, two regular and one sunglass frame. Color choices were good, and they’re very comfortable and lightweight, even for plastic frames. Target Optical accepts many insurance plans, and also offers 40% off a second pair if ordered within 30 days of original pair.
