Sometimes you are honored to see something special growing. You are there for the beginning! It’s like finding a seedling in a perfect part of a perfect wood and the sun strike that vulnerable little life and you know, in the depths of your heart, this tree is going to grow into something amazing.

Husubis has been working hard at the Vancouver Farmers market, and capturing a strong loyal following. You simply can’t meet the owners without loving them! They are hard working, deeply sincere, and extraordinarily kind. They are the type of people you want living next you, the kind of people you wish were in your family.

But let me talk about their food! There are certain things that the moment you bite into them you have a kind of epiphany, you suddenly recognize this seemingly exotic offering as Food, with a capital F. It seems familiar. You know that everyone who comes to this table will sit down to eat! The Spam musubi is almost a perfect food. You can literally drop it in your coat pocket for later. It is complete unto itself. A little bundle of spam, rice, and savory sauce, it is one of the ultimate grab and go foods. Are you driving, or hiking, going back to work, the spam musubi goes with you. And then there is onigiri! A small triangular bunch of rice with something good inside. When I lived in Japan for many years, I lived off onigiri. The supermarket, the convenience stores all had racks of these mobile meals. I was rescued over and over again. Soft opening is on Wednesday the Jan 15th! Personally I am so excited I can barely contain myself. This is the real deal! Good reasonably priced food made by folks straight from their hearts. They will grow strong in...

HEADS UP THEY GET BUSY & FAST

Husubi Poke Shop is fairly new and will be very successful. My coworker and I went Friday for lunch around 11:30 (30 mins after they opened) and there was already a steady amount of people there. By the time we left it was BUSY AF with the line out the door. Rightfully so, they make everything fresh for the day and put a lot of love into it. The earlier you get there the better your chances are of getting what you want. Be patient too as it is only 2 people helping everybody. They did a fantastic job and I’m sure will eventually hire more help.

They have options for you to get what you want. You can get just poke which comes in quarter pound, half pound, or full pound containers. Or You can do what I did and get the Elua (two) poke bowl option. It comes with your choice of 2 pokes, 2 sides, and a hefty serving of rice. I noticed they let you try a sample of their options when asked which is great. I suggest you try some sample to make sure you choose your best option. I also got 2 regular spam musubi’s. They offer other kinds like a breakfast musubi but I alway go regular my first visit to try out the base version. On my next visit I’ll stock up and get other options.

Parking can be little tough to find as there’s construction going on, but you can park and walk to them from anywhere in that area. It’s hard to find great poke options like this around the whole Portland/vancouver area so I’m happy this is 5 mins walking distance...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Husubi’s Poke Shop during their soft opening, and I have to say, I’m already hooked! The shop offers a fantastic selection of poke, and everything I tried was absolutely delicious. The Spam Musubi is a must-try—perfectly balanced with that savory, slightly sweet flavor that pairs so well with the rice. But the standout for me was the Spicy Ahi Bowl. The ahi was fresh and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice to give it a kick without overwhelming the taste.

The atmosphere at Husubi’s is also top-notch. It’s cozy, inviting, and the staff is incredibly friendly, making you feel right at home the moment you walk in. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or enjoying a leisurely meal, it’s the perfect spot to relax and savor great food.

I highly recommend checking out Husubi’s Poke Shop if you’re in the area—you won’t be disappointed! It’s definitely a new favorite of mine, and I can’t wait to return to try more...

It’s always exciting when you hear or new places to dine in at in Vancouver. I saw on social media that a new poke spot had their soft opening yesterday so my husband and I stopped by after work. Short line in front of us when we arrived but the wait was a little long. There wasn’t much left to choose from when it was our turn to order, which we expected because it was their soft opening. We ordered a couple musubi and each had our own poke bowl. The only options left were the creamy wasabi, spicy ahi and kimchi shrimp and cucumber. I ordered the spicy ahi and kimchi shrimp and cucumber, while my husband ordered the creamy wasabi and the kimchi cucumber… When we finally got our order, his was wrong. The female working gave him creamy wasabi and spicy ahi. Portions were kinda small but the flavor was good. They definitely have some kinks to work out, as with any new business, but we will stop by again to try other items in a few weeks.
