Second visit. First one was OK, but this time it sucked. Not the food, as far as I could eat it, the waiting staff is just not good.
Went in with my 12 y/o son. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich. It comes with an aioli dressing of some sort. Very tasty, but perhaps a bit moist. The chicken was nice and tender, but it started to slip out of its breading and dropped on the plate. No biggie, except when you don't get any cutlery and you were just handed 1 napkin per person (for relatively messy fingerfood), after having to ask for them. So I ate about a third of my sandwich, but the rest was now becoming a soggy mess in the pool of drippings on my plate. Too bad, as it was very tasty.
Finished the fries, which are also very good.
Waitress came, my glass had been empty for a while, but no refill was given or even asked about. She seemed to notice my not-even-half eaten sandwich, but didn't ask what was wrong. The usual "How was everything?", but I had already made my mind up to GTFO. We got the check, which was $32.15. Put down $40, which was picked up quickly. Waited for 5 minutes or so, but no change came, so we left. Waitresses seemed to be chatting behind the bar. Oh well, the price to pay for a good lesson I guess.
Another aspect of service I wasn't too impressed about was the low-cut-shirt-leaning-forward strategy for tips. I don't really mind normally, but you see there's a kid there too, right?
Pros: Tasty food. It's truly good. But depending on the dish, you'll need some tools...
Meh: The building. It's an old mini-mart with an automatic sliding door. I would highly recommend avoid sitting close by the door (as we did on our first visit some time ago). Another thing is the noise. Lots of glass, concrete floor, metal high ceiling, so it echoes like crazy. They seem to have installed some panels, but clearly not enough.
Cons: No cutlery. BYO? No napkins available at table or provided unless asked for. And even then we got 1 napkin per person for messy food. No refills on soda. No change. Generally just not very good service.
I'm not considering coming back soon. Too bad, because the food is good. Prices are on the high side, but if the whole experience is good, it's OK. It...

We sat down a water came to our table, slapped two coasters down and asked if wee needed a minute. We said - "Yes". The waiters never came back to our table. We were clearly ready to order as neither of us were looking at our menus. We tried several attempts to make eye contact and wave someone down to take our order. Every single employee ignored us. After about 30 minutes of this, I got up and stood at the bar. Everyone had been served at the bar. The bar tender was drying some glasses. When I came up he walked past me a couple of times. I said "excuse me" but was ignored. He proceeded to chat with the customers on at the end of the bar and continued to ignore me. I went back to my table really annoyed. If you have enough time to organize condiment bottles, you have time to take a customer's order. Needless to say after 45 minutes of completely being ignore. We walked to the other restaurant across the parking lot where we had excellent service and food. I would not recommend JB's Taphouse.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came in on a Monday at noon so it was pretty slow. Which is nice that I donāt have to compete for the staffs time. I had the Frickles and the Fire Burger.
Frickles - Dill chips and dip and fried in our signature beer batter, served with a housemade ranch. I have to say I am weak in the knees for fried pickles. These were exceptionally good. I prefer spears but these were very enjoyable. The beer batter was light and very little grease. The ranch has an abundance of flavor. 4/5 stars.
The Fire Burger - deep, fried jalapeños, green chilies, pepper, jack, kicking aïoli sauce, lettuce, tomato, and onion. The Burger King with a side of Coleslaw. The presentation was on point. I really loved the playing on both dishes. The burger was seasoned really well. I do prefer a burger with some pink. This burger was not that. It was pretty over cooked. The bun was lite but held a great structure. 4/5 stars
The coleslaw was fresh and crisp but had very little flavor. I feel like this was a prepackaged after thought. 2/5 stars.
The service was really good. The guy behind the bar was nice and helpful. He asked me a couple of times how I was doing and if I needed anything.
Overall I am glad I tried this place. It is always nice to find a local establishment doing...
